Home Again

Our Singapore Sling for 2013 is officially over.  It was an incredible trip - with in total 28 Te Akau owners and friends enjoying all or part of our adventure.  It was terrific to welcome travellers across the spectrum - from brand new Te Akau owners such as Brian and Sue who this year bought into their first horse with us, as well as long standing owners like Aussie and Leslie who were making their 17th visit to Singapore in the past year.  We thoroughly enjoyed everyone's company - what a brilliant team to travel and have fun with.

Fun really was the hallmark of this tour - tons of laughs and memorable moments.  From Matt earning a new mascot (ask him about starfish when you see him), to celebrating Merv's birthday (we even had the Singapore Airlines total crew including captains presenting him with a card).  Some of us experienced the famous fish massage where you place your legs in a pool of fish that then nibble (not bite) away at your legs (very odd sensation) and then there was our trip to trackwork when our guide overslept so we navigated our own way to Kranji with the non-English speaking bus driver!

Monday was a free day for everyone to wind down and do some final sight-seeing or shopping and at 5pm most of us caught our bus to the airport.  As I said before, some were off to Paris, some to London, some to Brisbane and some of us - back home!

The stand out highlights for us (aside from the people and the fun) were undoubtedly Mark's best result in Singapore - his win of the $325,000 Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe Final for 2YOs with the O'Reilly gelding War Affair who David bought from Trelawney's draft at the Karaka Premier Sale for $70,000.  On a personal note, it was wonderful seeing our god children Zavier ands Alexis Walker who are just a delight - a rare opportunity for us to catch up with them on Sunday morning (hope you enjoy the picture with the kiddies loving Karyn's reading and sunglasses)!
