Home Grown Singapore Success
26 October, 2013
A horse bred at Te Akau Stud was a runaway two length winner at Kranji overnight.
Riedel, by Saperavi from La Conga, has been a young horse who has always shown a huge amount of ability - if distracted at times by his manners.
They say manners maketh the man and that could not be more true. Both in New Zealand, where he won once and was twice runner up from five starts and in Singapore, Jason and Mark have work tirelessly to strengthen this 4YO's mental attitude.
The hard work certainly paid off in Singapore last night when at his third start since re-locating there, he flew home to claim the $35,000 Kranji Stakes D SW over 1600m.
In New Zealand Riedel earned $2925 in his five starts - now with his third Singapore start his stakes have risen to around $15,000.
Riedel was bred at Te Akau Stud and is another of the Saperavi progeny to win recent races - the other Te Akau winner of late by the stallion being Enhance, who has won both of her raceday appearances.
Bred by David Ellis, Denis McNamara and John and Tim Rennie - the team races Riedel together with Julia-Rose Ellis.
