In Honour of the Brave – ANZAC Day Tribute

They left our shores not knowing

when or if they'd return -

young hearts carried by duty,

drawn so far from home.

In foreign fields,

beneath unfamiliar skies,

they stood shoulder to shoulder

against fear,

against silence,

against the dark.

They gave us more than we can repay -

their courage, their future, 

their families, their lives.

The breath of their final morning

so that ours might ever rise free.

We remember those who never came home,

and those who carry the weight of war, still.

Today we honour their sacrifice

not only with words, but with how we live,

as we strive for the calm, 

the peace that you paid the ultimate price for.

To those treasured souls, to those we lost,

and to those who stand watch still,

the guardians of peace, in a world of much ill -

We bow our heads.

With pride.

With sorrow.

With gratitude.

Your courage echoes through generations.

We see you.

We thank you.

We will remember you.

Always.
