Two major G1 races in the space of 40 minutes: it's fair to say
trainer Jamie Richards and jockey Opie Bosson enjoyed their afternoon's
work at Randwick on Saturday.

First off, the New Zealand twosome joined forces for a
come-from-behind victory for the three-year-old filly Probabeel in the
Surround Stakes, the first G1 event of the Sydney autumn, before
repeating the dose in the very next race with Te Akau Shark in the
Chipping Norton Stakes, a race dominated by Winx for the previous four
seasons.

Best known for the exploits of prolific G1-winning mare Melody Belle,
Richards leads the NZ trainers' premiership with 88 winners. He was
left grasping for superlatives to describe a scintillating triumph from
Te Akau Shark as the five-year-old - third behind Lys Gracieux in the
Cox Plate - earned his first G1 success in Australia.

“He can do things other horses can't - that's the difference,” said
the trainer, who has now cracked the world's top ten trainers according
to the Thoroughbred Racing Commentary's exclusive global rankings with a
9pt bump (#9 from #14).

Richards's fellow Kiwi Bosson also climbed nine places on the jockeys' list (#32 from #41) with a 10pt boost.
