Jimmy Jubilant

The stunning season for Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker continues its forard march.

With no racing last weekend due to a mourning period of the founding father of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, it is all hands on deck this weekend with additional races programmed for both Friday and Sunday.  Across both days, our Singapore stable is presenting a total of 20 runners.

It was a sense of deja vu as Jimmy Rea saluted the Kranji judge on Friday night.  Wearing the familiar Kevin Hickman colours, made so famous by Silent Achiever, the 3YO gelding really outclassed his opposition in the S$100,000 Open Benchmark 83 1200m.

The son on Thewayyouare had debuted for fifth after being sent to our Singapore stable and then won three consecutive races before finishing a gallant third to Kiwi Karma (who also won on Friday night) in the $200,000 Group 3 Singapore Prestige Classic.

Coming in freshened for this 1200m assignment, Jimmy Rea was seemingly about to hit traffic as he began to mount his challenge.  However champion rider Manny Nunes knew exactly what he was doing and what he had under him - out he angled and the brakes came off and the leader was soon overhauled.

Friday's win took Mark Walker to 29 wins for the season and he remains on top of the Trainers' Premiership.  The win was Jimmy Rea's fourth from only six starts - and he has now won last season's Breeder of the Year Kevin Hickman almost $200,000 in stakes.  We feel very privileged to have been entrusted with this horse by Kevin and thank him for his amazing support.   There is no question Jimmy will be jumping quickly through the grades - he is a special horse.
