Jimmy "Rea" Too Good

14 February, 2015

Jimmy

On Friday night, Singapore racing followers were again treated to an outstanding performance by one of the most exciting gallopers in Te Akau Singapore's stable.

While there are a good number of horses in the stable making trainer Mark Walker excited eg My Lucky Strike - Jimmy Rea has certainly earned his reputation as a rising star.

The progressive 3YO gelding notched up his third consecutive win at Kranji on Friday night.  Stepping out for just his fourth start, the son of Thewayyouare more than lived up to his ever-growing reputation, when coming from back of midfield to salute in the $60,000 Class 4 1200m. fifth event.

After an eye catching fifth placing in a $75,000 Novice 1200m behind My Lucky Strike on debut in early December, Jimmy Rea has never looked back.  He went on to dominate his rivals at his next start in a $75,000 Restricted Maiden 1200m on New Year's Day.  he repeated the dose again in a Novice event on 25 January (in the fastest time of the afternoon, marked four lengths quicker than his rivals), winning comfortably on both occasions.

Ridden at every start by leading rider Manoel Nunes, on Friday Jimmy again settled in about eighth position, in a run mirroring his previous start.  With the potential to be stuck behind a wall of horses on straightening, canny Nunes forced his way into the clear — hitting the line powerfully. The step up to Class 4 company was done with consummate ease with a winning margin of two lengths with 57 kgs on his back.

Jimmy Rea was bred and is raced by 2014 Champion NZ Breeder Kevin Hickman (the breeder and owner of Silent Achiever) of Valachi Downs.  He is delighted with his decision to send this 3YO to Te Akau's Singapore stable to train - from his four career starts in Singapore, Jimmy Rea has now earned $113,805 and you'd believe there are plenty more stakes' earnings to come.

The success of Friday continued the fabulous start to the 2015 season that Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker is having.  Mark is in charge of the Trainers' Premiership (click on the link below) - three wins ahead of the pack.  In just six weeks, he has now trained 14 winners (with 11 runners up and 19 third placegetters) - for total stakes already exceeding $630,000.
