Latin Rose Makes It Three

Having won the first race aboard Hushed (Don Eduardo), Michael McNab bagged his second win in the tangerine colours when Latin Rose (4 m Mastercraftsman - Down View, by Gone West) scored fresh up in the Trinity Hill Maiden 1400 metres at Hastings.

An additional win by Arpeggio (Tavistock) gave the Autridge & Richards training partnership three for the day and with 41 wins for the season provided them with a nice buffer at the head of the premiership.

Latin Rose had trialled well for a close second over 1000 metres at Te Teko, with McNab aboard, and her pleasing work with Arpeggio last Saturday provided a good guide.

The winning of the race was greatly assisted at the start when Latin Rose sprung the gates to lead, before steadying to settle perfectly just behind the pace. She went forward with plenty to offer entering the home straight and strode away to exude a lovely action once in front at the 200m.

Easing at the line, clear by two and half lengths, she ran the 1400 metres in 1:24.5 and sizzled over the final 600m in 33.8 to show she is worthy of contesting a higher grade. Latin Rose paid $7.60 & $2.30 on the tote.

“She's always shown a lot of ability, needed time to strengthen, showed her class today, and things look good for her immediate future,” said co-trainer Stephen Autridge.

A half-sister to Mexican Rose (Volksraad), the champion 2YO & 3YO in Singapore, having first impressed winning two of three in NZ, Latin Rose has quite a rich pedigree.

She was purchased by David Ellis after being withdrawn from the 2013 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale and races in the ownership of her vendor Jamieson Park, along with Craig & Lisa Compain, Pat Dyer, Ronald Lau, June & Ruth Locker, Paul Martin & Oliver Saxton.

Jamieson Park is offering a half-brother by Ocean Park (Thorn Park), Lot 266 at NZB Premier Yearling Sale in January at Karaka.
