Te Akau - Leaders in Two Countries

You won't see a stable anywhere in the world that heads the leaderboard in not one but two separate countries!

We are truly proud of the huge team effort that has made Te Akau Racing the success that it is this season - in New Zealand and in Singapore.

It's certainly no mean feat to have Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards, together with Mark Walker on top of the Trainers' Premierships in New Zealand and Singapore respectively.

This comes down to some key ingredients - firstly our Te Akau owners!  We are so privileged to have a wonderful, loyal and enthusiastic family of owners who support and believe in us.  Both people who buys shares in horses with Te Akau and also those who entrust us to train the horses that they own.  We truly value each and every owner involved with us.

In New Zealand, the season is only about 3.5 months complete - already our Matamata based crew has won 31 races with 23 second and 18 third placings - we have already won FIVE Group and Listed races with prizemoney for our owners totalling $892,273.  An incredible strike rate of 4.94 reinforces what a huge start to the season our team has had.

This success reflects every step of Te Akau Racing's attention to detail - from the time David, Mark and Jamie view catalogues and select and buy horses, to the breaking in and handling at Te Akau Stud - to the commitment of Stephen and Jamie, Pam, Steve, Lynley, Kerry, Daniel, Jason, Katy, Luke and everyone at Matamata and the farm!  Winning races for our owners is our absolute top priority!

While the season gains momentum in New Zealand, it is the opposite in Singapore with only eight meetings remaining until the 2015 season ends.  Mark Walker is enjoying a stellar season during which he has led the Trainers' Premiership from almost Day 1 - to Mark and Julia, Gus and Karen, and all our dedicated Singapore team - well done.  Not long to go now, and we are all cheering you home hoping for Mark's first Singapore Trainers' Premiership title - to add to his five in New Zealand.

Leading the Premiership table by 10 wins, Mark has won 76 races with a whopping 77 runners up and 112 third placegetters - our stakes' tally stands at $4,336,407 - a terrific result for our owners who race horses there.

Also a big call out to our Singapore apprentice Shafiq Rusof - what a massive season he is having under Mark's guidance - including riding the Group 1 Singapore Gold Cup winner last weekend (that's Suppy below on the inside in the blue colours claiming the $1.35 million Group 1 feature last weekend).

"Suppy" as we know him has won 53 races, with 48 second and 62 third placings.  To put this into perspective, he leads Harry Kasim on the Apprentice table by 24 wins - Harry has won 29 races with the third placed apprentice sitting on 19 season wins.

Yes we are proud of how well the teams are firing - but most importantly - we are delighted for the owners who support Te Akau Racing.
