Mark Leads the Way

Four months of the Singapore racing season have now been completed - in Singapore, the Turf Club races to a calendar year so the "new year" kicked off on 1 January 2015.

In what was to become a regular feature, Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker announced his intentions for the season on 1 January with a double header - with Jefferson Bay and Bazinga both saluting the judge.

Since there barely a weekend has passed without Mark adding to his winning tally and when racing concluded this past weekend - it was again a two-pronged, winning weekend with Jimmy Rea and Affirmation landing firmly in the winners' circle - the former a rising 3YO star and latter retiring in style after being such a grand campaigner since our first day in Singapore in 2010.

Mark has led the Singapore Trainers' Premiership all season and whilst others are chasing him hard, he still maintains a very helthy nine-win lead.  After this past weekend, Mark and the team have delivered 37 winners, 24 runners up and 45 third placegetters.  The stable's impressive stakes' earnings have now eclipsed the $1.7 million mark in just four months.

On 14 May the Te Akau intrepid travellers head off to Singapore to take in a fantastic two days of premier Kranji racing - from the comfort of a corporate box - the highlight of our trip undoubtedly will be to visit the stables and see all our horses as well as catch up with Mark and Julia and their two children Zavier and Alexis.
