Mark Wins Three at Kranji

Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker enjoyed an outstanding night at Kranji on Friday night, winning three races on the nine race programme.

Two of the three were piloted by Apprentice CK Ng and the third of the winning trio saw champion jockey Manuel Nunes up.

The night started out the way it was going to finish with a classy win in the first race by We Are Genius who claimed the S$38,000 Kranji Stakes D SW over 1200m.  A newcomer to the Te Akau Singapore barn, it was great to score for his owners the Genius Stable.

It was the turn of the aptly named "Survivor Stable" mid way through the programme as the consistent Saperavi mare Molly Browne won nicely for Nunes.  In 14 starts this 4YO has now won in excess of $70,000 - she carries the name of one of the most stoic and famous survivors of the Titanic disaster.

With three chances in the last on the programme, the S$60,000 Class 4 1200m really did become a "which way do I look?" finish as stablemates, the veteran Brahms and Liszt and the up and coming Wonderful fought out a tight finish.  The former, and least favoured of the two, pulled out one of the races of his career and claimed a narrow but determined win for apprentice CK Ng.

Well done to Mark, Gus, Karen and the whole team on a magic night - the winning treble takes Mark Walker to second on the Trainers' Premiership (which of course he won so well last year) with 19 wins for the season, just one shy of the premiership lead.
