Marlborough Preview

Five Te Akau horses travel north from Rangiora to Blenheim for Friday racing.

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses entered for the eight-race programme on Friday April 26 at Marlborough.

As at 8:03am on Thursday April 25 the conditions were: fine and Slow8, rail in the True position.

12:10pm R1 9 Kayleen (3 f Towkay - Indomitable) - Matt Cameron; comes off a 50-day let up into the Maiden 1000 metres. She has proved very consistent in six starts to date, with her best form on dead/slow footing, and outside the likely favourite Warlock she appears nicely placed in barrier two to be competitive.

12:53pm R2 8 Tossed Again (4 m Fast ‘N' Famous - Look at Moiye) - Matt Cameron; won a trial nicely in preparation to resume from a spell in the Benchmark 85 1000 metres. Although rated 63, her performances to win on debut at Te Rapa, and Greymouth, can see her measuring up. Her dam, Look at Moiye (O'Reilly), impressed winning over 1200 metres on slow and heavy footing.

2:03pm R4 13 My Fiancée (3 f Snitzel - Meet My Sis) - Matt Cameron; won a trial nicely in preparation to resume from a spell in the Maiden 1400 metres. Second when debuting on slow footing at Waimate, she displayed good ability in her first campaign and comes into this race as one of the foremost chances.

2:38pm R6 2 Stanica Star (6 g Danzero - Stanica) - Matt Cameron; never received clear galloping room on March 23 in the Benchmark 75 1400 metres at Riccarton. A talented horse at best, he appears nicely placed from barrier one in the corresponding race.

3:48pm R7 7 Viana (4 m Volksraad - Hecuba) - Matt Cameron; reached the lead mid-straight, only to be claimed late when second on April 6 in the Benchmark 75 1800 metres at Riccarton. A course/distance winner over 1950 metres, with her four wins coming on good and dead footing, she may be reserved to contest the Marlborough Cup (1950m) here on Sunday unless the track improves considerably.
