Matamata Saturday Trackwork

Members of Jason Bridgman's powerful three-year-old string got through their work well at Matamata on Saturday morning as they prepared for Ellerslie Boxing Day features.

The majority of fast work took place on the plough, which was in good order, but intermittent fog hindered some sectional timing.

Eight Carat Stakes prospect Costa Viva (Hercock) and Great Northern Guineas runner Aspen (Cameron) had first use of the plough as they cut out 1200m in 1:15.2, with the last 1000m in 1:00.7 and 600m in an impressive 34.7. Chambord (Cameron) and All Decked Out (Hercock) rivals in the Great Northern Guineas, were also impressive over 1200m in 1:15.2, 1:00.5 and 35.2.

Later in the session Flirty Gertey (Hercock) prepared for the Eight Carat Classic in company with Sir Darci (Cameron) over 1200m in 1:18.8, the 1000m in 1:02.8 and quickening for the final 600m in 35.6. Le Choix was impressive when co-trainer Chad Ormsby took him over 1200m in company with Total Response (P Ormsby), cutting out the distance in 1:14.7, 1000m in 1:00.5 and 600m in 34.8. Le Choix will be an interesting runner in the R85 1400 on Boxing Day.

Viadana confirmed her fitness for the Zabeel Classic as raceday rider Craig Grylls took her over ground in company with Dunstan Qualifier Beauty Perception (Leveque), running from the 1200m in 1:26.3, 1:02.5 and 36.4. Beauty Show (C Grylls) and Always On MY Mind (Wong) got through a smart 1200m in 1:14.7, 59.9 and 35.5, while Abidewithme (Hercock) and Alchemy's Flight (Cameron) ran the same trip in 1:16.2, 1:01.3 and 35.6.

Great Northern Guineas candidate Puccini (P McKay) went with Culto La Vida (S McKay) over 1000m in 1:03.8 and 600m in 36.8. Race rival Habitual Offender (C Ormsby) left 1200m behind in 1:16.8, 1:02.6 and 35.3.

Miss Mossman (Roff) and Svavarsson (Hepi) prepared for Rotorua on Friday with 1000m in 1L02.3 and 35.3. Fifty Shades Of Grey (K Jones) took 1:20.2 for 1200m, with her last 1000m in 1:04.8 and 600m in 35.9. My Mestari (Hepi) and Savaryhs (Roff) recoded 1:03.2 and 36 over 1000m.

Needlly (Wong) and Hassle Free (Leveque) covered 1200m in 1:19.4, 1:04.2 and 37.1. Ellerslie juvenile runner Red Striker (J Collett) ran his last 600m in 37.8, while Flying Captain (Coetzee) was timed over 800m in 54.2 and 600m 37.9, and Juggernaut Rock (K Price) covered the same trip in a smart 47.9 and 35.3. NewmarketHandicap runner Whosyourmaster O'Sullivan) cut out 1000m in 1:03.5 and 600m in 36.6.

On the all-weather track, Pussy O'Reilly (B Grylls), who drops back to 1200 metres in the Newmarket, was impressive cutting out 1000m in 1:01.5 and 600m in 35.8.
