Matamata Thursday Trackwork

Promising McKay team members Beckham and Al Pacino caught the eye at Matamata this morning when they were put through their paces on the all-weather track.

Beckham (Colgan) and Al Pacino (S McKay) impressed as they strode over 1000m in 1:05.1 and 600m 37.7. Beckham, the winner of his only start last autumn, is coming to hand well, while Al Pacino looks improved for his recent fresh-up outing.

Stablemates Donnie Brasco (S McKay) and Antonio Lombardo (J McKay) did smart work, covering 1000m in 1:03.7 and 36.2. Others to work on the all-weather surface included Crystalight (Rhodes), who left 1000m behind in 1:07 and 39.5, while Brave Buccaneer (Goodwin) ran the last 600m of striding work in 38.8.

Flying Siege (Rhodes) and Speedy Jax (Wratten) were timed over 800m in 51.7 and 600m in 37.6. Fascination Street (Wong) looked well as she covered 1000m in 1:12.

Onlyarose (A Jones) was doing her best work at the end of 1000m in 1:05.3 and 37.4. Fast 'N' Gorgeous (Sapsworth) covered 1000m in a comfortable 1:12.7 and 42.5, while stable mate Letmeby (Wratten) ran his last 800m in 54.8 and the final 600m in 39.8.

On the sand, Chazelle (J Collett) hit out nicely over 1000m, recording a time of 1:06.6 and 38 for the final 600m. Stablemate Massofdash (Blair) did similar work over the same distance in 1:05 and 37.

Irish Encore (Hong) worked an easy 800m in 59.2 and 43.5 for the final 600m. Silk Chardonnay (A Jones) worked over ground and was timed from the 1200m in 1:17.1 and 39.

Packing Chaparral (Coleman) also worked over 1200m, returning 1:21.8 and was doing his best work at the finish with his last 600m in 37.5. Tegwin (Hong) worked steadily over 1000m in 1:11.5 and 43.2.

Giana (Samuelsson) and Auriol (Lammas) worked over 800m in 55.2 and 39. Ambrosini and Suffire went 1000m in 1:10 and 40.5, while Persuasive (Coleman) did nearly identical work in 1:10 and 40.0.
