Matamata Trackwork Update

Stablemates Melody Belle and Te Akau Shark did all that was expected of them in the heavy conditions at Matamata this morning (Tuesday) as they prepared for Saturday's US Navy Flag Foxbridge Plate.

Course proper gallops took place right-handed 20 metres, where raceday jockey Opie Bosson partnered Te Akau Shark in solo work, setting off at a leisurely rate to cover 1200m in 1:26.8 and building momentum for a final 600m in 38.3. After wins in his two recent trials, the big chestnut looks in capital order for his spring campaign.

Last season's star performer Melody (McNab) was partnered by Codecracker (Coleman) over 1200m in 1:25.9, completing the hitout on terms after a final 600m in 38.4. Melody Belle, who has come back stronger then ever,  will be out to defend her Foxbridge Plate title, while Codecracker rates a big chance on this morning's work in Saturday's Rating 72 1400.

Suliman (Singh) and Pacquiao (Wratten) prepared for Te Rapa with sound work over 1200m in 1:26.6 and 41.8, while Bak Da Master (P Richards), another heading to Te Rapa, appeared to get though his work well without being timed.

Richard Of Yorke (Burdan) left a good impression in his hitout with English Rose over 1200m in 1:25.4 and 39.2. Amongst those to work over less ground, in-form Te Rapa entry Seductress (Coleman) went with recent trial placegetter It's So Easy (R Jones) over 600m in 41.2, and Hosel Rocket (McCall) followed in 41.4.Tweedledee (Yoto) prepared for Te Rapa with a solid 1200m on the sand in 1:22 and 38.
