Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Fascination Street sealed an entry for Saturday's DHL Hawke's Bay Guineas with an impressive workout at Matamata this morning.

Galloping 22m out on a heavy course proper, Fascination Street (Coleman) was travelling strongly alongside Miss Mossman at the end of 1000m in 1:06.6, with fog making the only sectional possible the last 800m in 52.3.

Fascination Street has come through her fresh-up third in the Gold Trail Stakes in pleasing order and after a discussion between Coleman, co-trainer Hayden Allen and syndicate manager Adrian Clark, an entry for the Hawke's Bay Guineas was confirmed. Stablemate Miss Mossman will start at Te Rapa on Friday.

Copacabana (Sapsworth), a runner at Te Rapa, and Hastings candidate Living The Dream (Chiong) were paired over 1000m in 1:07.1 and 600m in 39.3, while Te Rapa entrants Clos de Tart (Dee) and Orinto (Cameron) ran the same distance in 1:07.9 and 39.5. Taoist Master (Forbes) prepared for Te Rapa with 1000m in 1:07.2 and 800m in 52.8.

Bachelor Keen (Sapsworth) and Alice Web Ellis (Chiong) left 1000 behind in 1:09 and 40.4, while Secret Whisper (Dee) and Imperial Miss (Cameron) left 1200m behind in 1:22, with their last 1000m in 1:07.1 and 600m in 39.4.

Among those that could not be timed due to fog but appeared to work well were Exabelle, Dubai Shuffle, Calypso, Passing Parade, Vincent Street and Nothing Trivial.

On the all-weather track Donnie Brasco (P McKay) drew attention to his Hawke's Bay Guineas prospect when he and Te Rapa candidate Estrato (S McKay) cut out a smart 1000m in 1:03.2 and 600m in 36.8.

Two more from the McKay stable, Antonio Lombardo (J McKay) and Joey Massino (D Johnson), were timed over 1000m in 1:06.4 and 800m in 51.2.

On the sand, Juggernaut Rock (Cameron) and Canterino (D Johnson) prepared for their Hastings staying assignments with smart work over ground, completing their last 1200m in 1:17 and 1000m in 1:02.4. No further sectionals were possible due to fog.

Brave Centaur (Dowling) got through a solid gallop in preparation for the Hastings feature sprint, cutting out 1200m in 1:22.8 and the final 600m in 38.5. Glitzabeel (M Brosnan), another heading to Hastings, was partnered by Kakahu Nell (Roff) over 1200m in 1:18.9, 1000m in 1:03.8 and 600m in 37.8. Kakahu Nell runs at Te Awamutu on Sunday.

Hawke's Bay entry Travino (P McKay) went with Undisclosed (D Johnson) over 1000m in 1:04.3 and 800m in 51. Silverdale (D Johnson) prepared for Hastings with Babilloni (C Grylls) over 1000m in 1:03.2 and 600m in 36.8. Imminence (P Turner) and High Viz (Coleman) left 1000m behind in 1:04.4, quickening for a final 600m 36.9. Cleo (M Brosnan) and Typhoon (Roff) ran the same distance in 1:03.7 and 36.8.

Chazelle (J Collett) did striding work over 1200m in 1:27.4, 1000m in 1:10.8 and 600m in 41.2. Viadana (Dowling) looked bright in her work over 1200m in 1:29.2 and 1000m in 1:13, while stablemate Annie Higgins (Dowling) did a similar task with 1200m in 1:27.6 and 600m in 39.2.

Others to work over ground included Our Essence (Wilson) with 1200m in 1:25.3 and 600m in 41.9, Volcano (S Wong) and Beauty Perception (Leveque) 1:21.6 and 40.4, True Light (Clements) 1:29.6 and 43.6, and Total Response (C Grylls) 1:29.2 and 40.

Bellorussiya (K Hillis) cut out 1000m in 1:04.8 and 36.6, Ronan (Roff) and Gardone (M Brosnan) took 1:06.3 and 38.2, while Sinister Man (Sapsworth) and Firostefani (Wilson) took 1:07.2 and 39.
