Our Famous Eve and Annie Higgins prepared for Saturday's Team Wealleans Matamata Cup with an impressive gallop in company at Matamata this morning.

Working 20 metres out on a dead course proper, Our Famous Eve (P Turner) and Annie Higgins (R Jones) had pace on throughout 1200m, cutting out the distance in 1:16.5 with the last 1000m in 1:03 and 600m in 37.5.

Our Famous Eve will be at peak for her weekend assignment after a bold first-up effort in the Windsor Park Plate, while although Annie Higgins goes into the 1600-metre event with just a trial outing behind her, it wouldn't surprise to see her run prominently.

Possible Matamata Cup contendors Villifye (C Grylls) and Arnold (Sapsworth) also worked well over 1200m in 1:19.3, 1000m in 1:04.8 and 600m in 37.4. Trainer Graham Richardson has yet to decide between his local meeting and Hawera for the pair.

Two stable members confirmed for the Taranaki Breeders' Stakes at Hawera, Ididit (C Grylls) and Queens Rose (Sapsworth), worked in good style over 1200m in 1:18.5, with the last 1000m in 1:04.7 and 600m in 37.6.

Viadana (Dowling), who kicks off her season in the Taranaki Breeders' Stakes, was partnered by Matamata candidate Augusta National (S Wong) over 1200m in 1:18.2, 1000m in 1:04.2 and 600m in 37.4. Matamata runner Mosh Pit (Sapsworth) went with Roc De Chine (C Grylls) over 1000m in 1:05.7 and 600m in 37.5.

Matamata maiden entry Enforza (W Hillis) worked against the course proper rail, cutting out 1200m in 1:18.9, 1000m in 1:04.8 and 600m in 37.

On the all-weather track class racemare Xanadu looked bright for her pending Melbourne campaign when her regular jockey Michael Coleman let her roll over 1200m in a smart 1:15.2. Due to fog that came down midway through the session the only sectional time possible was 1000m in 59.9, but the work confirmed that Xanadu has trained on well from her Windsor Park Plate victory.

Stablemate Powerplaya (Coleman) was also in dashing form as he prepared for Saturday's local meeting with 1000m in 1:01.3 and 600m in 35.8. Hawera candidate Sworntoperfection (R Myers) was timed over 1200m in 1:16.2 and 1000m in 1:02.5.

The plough was back in use and with its lack of depth fast times were common. Taaxman (T Gillies), who has been denied two recent runs due to cancellations, signalled his weekend prospects when he and Sunbeam (A Jones) cut out 1000m in 1:00.2 and 600m in 35.

Matamata sprint rivals Irish Encore (C Grylls) and Whosyourmaster (O'Sullivan) were also impressive in their work over 1000m in 1:01.2 and 35.8, while Yin Yang Master (Hepi) and Made My Point (C Grylls) cut out 1200m in 1:15.2 and 1000m in 1:00.5.

Over the same ground Sateka (Goodwin) returned 1:17.2 and 1:02.7, Peacefuleasyfeelin (P Turner) 1:21.8 and 1:06.5, Prospero (Dee) 1:19.9, and Workmans (O'Sullivan) 1:20.8. Hot Char (O'Sullivan) and Cast King (R Jones) were slick over 1000m in 1:00.8 and 35.8, while Justin In Time (Coleman) and Tegwin (K Jones) took 1:04.8.

Forefront (K Myers), who will try for his fourth straight win at Hawera, was not after time as he breezed through 1200m in 1:22.8, 1000m in 1:05.2 and 600m in 38.2. Leica Queen (K Price) looked in good shape for the local meeting when she reeled off her last 800m in 51.5 and 600 in 36.2.

Pearl Lustre (Blair) left 1000m behind in 1:02.6 and 600m in 36.4. Liberare (C Ormsby) was restricted to 1200m in 1:27.5 and 600m in 40.8, while King's Fortune (S Wong) ran 1000m in 1:08.4 and 38.8. Costa Viva (K Myers) strolled over 1000m in 1:14.2 and 44.5, and was followed by Precious Time (R Myers) in 1:13.8 and 44.2.
