Irish Encore prepared for her Rotorua weekend engagement with an impressive gallop at Matamata this morning.
Working 22 metres out on a slow course proper, Irish Encore (O'Sullivan) was travelling sweetly at the end of 1000m with Wannabe (Blair) in 1:04.8 and 600m in 38.6. Irish Encore was withdrawn from last weekend's local meeting due to the slow footing and is in good order for when the right opportunity arrives, hopefully this Saturday.
Whisky Bolero (Donnelly), another O'Sullivan-Scott entrant for Rotorua, tracked his stablemates to record 1:04.6 and 38.2 in what was also sound work. Zankuro (Dee) prepared for Rotorua with 1000m in 1:05.8 and 600m in 39.6. He could be a fast improver from his recent first-up run for the Kelsos.
Orinto (Cameron) turned in a good trial for Rotorua when she and Sunset Pass (Dee) strode over 1200m in 1:21.6, with their final 1000m in 1:06.8 and 600m in 39.2. Over the same ground Glitzabeel (M Brosnan) returned 1:21.8, 1:08 and 41.2, while Traveller was not after time as he recorded 1:28.3, 1:13.2 and 42.8.
Lilly Belle (R Jones) and Elle Grace (Burton) left 1000m behind in 1:06.4 and 39.6. Gobi Ranger (P Turner) continued his New Zealand 2000 Guineas preparation with a leisurely 1000m in 1:15.2 and 43.2.
Percentage (C Grylls) and a Flying Spur gelding (Wratten), two-year-olds in the Graham Richardson stable, ran in from the 600m mark in 40.8. A juvenile pair in the Danica Guy team by Iffraaj (K Hillis) and Fast 'N' Famous (P Turner) were timed over 800m in 55.2 and 600m in 40.3.
On the sand, which was firm, Silverdale (R Jones) and Twist Of Fate (Brown) worked in style over 1000m in 1:02.8 and 600m in 36.4. Silverdale runs at Rotorua on Saturday, while his stablemate is entered for Tauranga on Friday.
Toma Valea (M Brosnan) and Cleo (Roff) were also impressive as they prepared for Rotorua with 1000m in 1:02.6 and 600 in 36.8, while High Tower (H McQuade) recorded 1:04.4 and 37.5, Donny Brasco (P McKay) and Estrato (S McKay) took 1:04.5 and 36.2, and Waitoki Flower (C Grylls) 1:02.4 and 36.6.
Cristal Heights (Dowling) and Keep In Tune (S Wong) were paired in sound work over 1200m in 1:19.4 and 600m in 37.2. Everlong (Samuelsson) ran the same trip in 1:19.6 and 36.7, Deschabeel (Coleman) returned 1:19.7 and 37, and Lord Shiva (C Grylls) and My Mestari (R Jones) 1:17.6 and 37.8.
Calypso (C Grylls) and Passing Parade (Grant) left 1000m behind in 1:05.2 and 37.2, while Super Mover (Forbes) and Veeareobro (R Jones) took 1:04.6 and 36.6, In Flight (Dowling) and King's Fortune (S Wong) 1:09.2 and 41.3, That's How We Roll (C Ormsby) 1:07.6 and 37.2, Ronan (M Brosnan) 1:04.7 and 37.3, Cool Cruising (Weatherley) 1:05.5 and 37.6, and Revelator (Grant) 1:05.8 and 37.8.
Happy Guys (Coleman) was allowed an easy time over 1200m in 1:29.5 and 42.9. His stablemate Bounding (K Jones) did likewise over 1000m in 1:16.8 and 44.9, Abidewithme (Cameron) took 1:14.3 and 43.7, and Packing Express (R Jones) 1:11.3 and 40.6.
On the all-weather track Madam Kirk (Goodwin) hit out freely in preparation for Rotorua with 1000m in 1:01.8 and 600m in 36.4. She has trained on well from her bold fresh-up effort.
Smartly (Wells) and Enforza (K Hillis) were also in good form as they cut out 1000m in 1:02.8 and 600m in 36.7. Vitali (P Turner) strode over 1200m in 1:22.3, 1000m in 1:06.2 and 600m in 39.3.
