Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Leading Telegraph candidates Volpe Veloce, Heroic Valour and Chambord got the tick of approval for Saturday's big Trentham sprint in their final serious gallops at Matamata this morning. Telegraph favourite Volpe Veloce was ridden by her raceday jockey Jake Bayliss in her work on the course proper, where the going was good eight metres out. The Richardson/Parker-trained mare was never at top over 1000m in 1:07.2 and the final 600m in 37.3. She is in capital order to complete the Railway-Telegraph double on Saturday.
Heroic Valour (Bosson) and Chambord (McNab) worked on the plough, where they were evenly matched over a well rated 1000m in 1:05, finishing off with 600m in 36.2. The Te Akau pair is also in excellent condition for their big test.
Stablemate Splurge (Bosson) worked solo in preparation for Saturday's Thorndon Mile, cutting out 1200m in 1:19.8, 1000m in 1:03.8 and 600m in 36.6. Race rival Savile Row (Bayliss) worked on the course proper, completing 1000m easily in 1:05.4 and 37.2.
Back on the plough, Thorndon candidate Watch This Space (Lammas) was paired with Livin' On A Prayer (Roff) over a smartly run 1200m in 1:16.8, 1:01.2 and 35.8. Clarify (S McKay) prepared for the Wellington Cup over ground and was timed from the 1200m in 1:20.8, 1:05.6 and 37.8. He is fit and ready for Saturday's two-miler.
Desert Gold Stakes runner Chill (Coleman) went with Ivy's Dream (Tynan) in an impressive 1000m in 1:03 and 35.6. Ivy's Dream is set to run at Tauranga on Friday, as are Motivation (Bosson) and Griffin (Pinn), who cut out 1000m in 1:04.3 and 35.8.
Miss Horotiu (Coleman) got through her work well ahead of Te Rapa on Sunday when she cut out 1000m in 1:03.6 and 36.4. Over the same distance Scrutinize (Bosson) and Fortune Patch (Bayliss) returned 1:04.3 and 36.4, Precision Miss (Coleman) took 1:05 and 36.8, Our King Sway (Tynan) and Hay Tiger (Dowling) 1:06.8 and 36.9, and Supera (Lammas) 1:05.8 and 38.3.
Cia Si Bao (Bayliss) and Miss Foxy Gal (Yanagida) were paired in solid work over ground, running their last 1200m in 1:17.8 and 36.6, while Wildflower (Roff) covered the same distance in 1:25.6 and 38.2 and Beaumarchais (McNab) 1:22.3 and 38.2.
Bocce (Lammas) and She's A Thief (Bayliss) were kept ticking over for the Karaka Million with an easy 1000m in 1:14.3 and 43, while Nirvana In Fire (Yanagida) got through a similar assignment in 1:1:12.8 and 42.7, and Rock Me (Cole) returned 1:14.8 and 43.9.
