The Hotz and Revelator prepared for Ellerslie on the weekend with smart work at Matamata this morning.
Galloping on a good plough, The Hotz (C Ormsby) and Revelator (P Ormsby) strode over ground and were timed from the 1200m in 1:19.8, with their last 1000m in 1:04 and 600m in 36.2. The Moroney-Ormsby pair were strong at the line and after good fresh-up efforts look ready for their middle-distance assignments on Saturday.
New Zealand 2000 Guineas placegetter Gobi Ranger (P Turner) looked bright when he was paired with News of the World (Swann) over 1000m in 1:04.7 and 600m in 36.6. Gobi Ranger is an entry for both the Wellington Stakes at Otaki on Friday and the Trevor Eagle Memorial 3YO at Ellerslie on Saturday, with the decision on a start dependent on the weather.
Alvesta (P McKay) and Antonio Lombardo (J McKay) prepared for Ellerslie with a smart 1000m in 1:01.8 and 600m in 36.2. Alvesta runs in the main sprint, while his stablemate will step up to 1600m in the Eagle Technology Stakes. Race rivals Joey Massino (P McKay) and Estrato (S McKay) galloped on the all-weather track, where they cut out 1000m in 1:02.9 and 36.8.
Back on the plough, Ellerslie feature three-year-old entries Ruthless lady (Hercock) and King Savinsky (Cameron) worked away to run 1200m in 1:19.6, quickening for a final 1000m in 1:04.2 and 600m in 36.2. Ellerslie candidates Whosyourmaster (O'Sullivan) and Opt (C Grylls) left 1000m behind in 1:02.8 and 36.5, while Volksbelle (K Myers) and Hot Rod (Ward) put on the pace to return 1:01.8 and 35.2.
Fast Fiction (Hercock) and Speeding (Cameron) also worked in style over 1000m in 1:01.8 and 36.2. Otaki candidate Madam Kirk (Goodwin) ran the same trip in 1:01.7 and 36.2.
Ellerslie entries Happy Guys (C Grylls) and Makarska (Coleman) were paired in sound work over 1200m in 1:16.6, 1000m in 1:02.6 and 600m in 36.3. Inis Rose (Leveque) and Racquetor (Dowling) strode over 1200m in 1:19, with their last 1000m in 1:04.5 and 600m in 37.4. Aspen (Cameron) and Flirty Gertey (Hercock) looked bright after a recent freshen-up when cutting out 1200m in 1:18.2, 1000m in 1:02.6 and 600m in 35.2.
Recent impressive winner Beauty Show (C Grylls) covered 1200m in 1:16.8, 1000m in 1:02 and 600m in 36.3. Viadana (Dowling) was kept to 1200m in 1:29.6 and 42.3, while fellow Captain Cook Stakes prospect Brave Centaur (Dowling) returned 1:19.8 and 37.8.
Yin Yang Master (Allen) began steadily before completing 1200m in 1:25.8, 1:08.6 and 39.4. Over the same ground Prospero (Cameron) and Stylee (Cameron) took 1:20.6, 1:05.2 and 36.7, Tiger Moss (Coleman) 1:23.8, 1:07.6 and 39.2, Marcelle (R Jones) and Calm Bay (Leveque) 1:18.5, 1:03.7 and 36.8, Flying Fantasy (P Ormsby) and Graphic (C Grylls) 1:23, 1:05 and 36.4, and Lily Belle (Burton) 1:15.2, 1:02 and 37.7.
Imagine (B Grylls) and an unnamed Zabeel gelding (Coleman) began steadily to cover 1000m in 1:05.6, finishing off with 600m in 36.9. Stablemates The Last Shower (C Ormsby) and Total Response (P Ormsby) had pace on throughout 1200m in 1:16.7, 1000m in 1:01.4 and 600m in 35.6, while Peerage (Hercock) and Jewels Gift (Cameron) also did smart work over 1200m in 1:17.7, 1:02.1 and 35.
La Vitesse (Weatherley) wasted no time over 1200m in 1:15.8, 1:02.2 and 35.8, Rose Of Falkirk (M Brosnan) cut out 1000m in 1:02.4 and 36.7, and Beauty Glow (Leveque) and Touch Ahead (Dowling) covered 1200m in 1:20.6, 1:06 and 38.7.
Agent Ziva (P Turner), who runs at Ellerslie, was restrained early over 1000m in 1:05.6 and 600m in 36.2. Malina (S Wong) and Mirage (R Jones) had pace on throughout 1200m in 1:15.5, 1000m in 1:013 and 600m in 35.8. Ellerslie runners Le'Vantos (Forbes) and I'll'ava'alf (A Jones) went evenly over 1200m in 1:22.2, 1:06.9 and 39.5.
