Matamata Tuesday Trackwork
4 September, 2018
Hello M'Lady and Our King Sway underlined their weekend prospects with sound work at Matamata this morning. Galloping 20 metres out on a heavy course proper, Hello M'Lady (Lammas) and Our King Sway (Danis) strode over 1200m in 1:24.6, with their last 1000m in 1:08.8 and 600m in 40.7. Hello M'Lady in particular looked strong at the line and should be well placed to extend her impressive formline in the open 1400 at Te Aroha on Sunday.
Ritzy Sparkle (Rusof) and The Real Beel (Waddell) prepared for the O'Learys Fillies' Stakes at Wanganui with 1000m in 1:13.5 and 600m in 42.1 The Jamie Richards-trained pair both have the benefit of a trial and a race ahead of Saturday's Listed event.
Race rival Flaunt It Girl (S McKay) was paired with She's Prismatic (J Price) in smart work on the sand, where the Jason Price duo cut out 1000m in 1:02.4 and 600m in 36.5. Flaunt It Girl was stakes-placed at two and is forward after a trial for Saturday's feature.
Back on the course proper, Great Northern Hurdle prospect Letmeby (Handley) worked away from the 2200m mark and was joined by Suliman (Hashizume) to cover the last 1200m in 1:25.8, 1000m in 1:11.6 and 600m in 42.8. Letmeby has thrived since his last-start hurdle win at Te Aroha and will be out to prove that upset result was no fluke in Sunday's feature. Stablemate Suliman, who won the final two starts of his early winter campaign, looks bright ahead of resuming over 1600 metres at Te Aroha.
Ambitious Showgirl (Hashizume) and Rocket Fuel (Handley) worked well ahead of Te Awamutu on Friday with 1000m in 1:11 and 40.3. Mongolianconqueror (S Collett) was never at top over 1000m in 1:13 and 42.3. The Derby runner-up is coming to hand well and may start at Wanganui.
Havoc (C Cole) and Spree (S Collett) got through 1000m in good style, clocking 1:09.8 and 41.6, while Vermont (S Collett) didn't look comfortable in the conditions when covering 1000m in 1:15.2 and 44.9.
On the sand Adis (Lammas) and Codebreaker (Coleman) left 1000m behind in 1:05.9 and 37.2, while Trueman (Lammas), another from the Kelso-Donoghue stable running at next week's local meeting, recorded 1:21.9, 1:07.7 and 39.8 over 1200m.
On the all-weather track Link Road (J Price) had pace on throughout 1000m in 1:02.8 and 37.
