Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Sleeping Beauty looked ready to continue her winning form on the weekend when she galloped at Matamata this morning.  Working 23 metres out on a slow course proper, Sleeping Beauty (Yanagida) hit the line full of running after 1000m in 1:05.3 and the last 600m in 39.5. The O'Sullivan/Scott-trained mare has progressed the right way since her home track win earlier in the month and given favourable track conditions she will be hard to beat again.

Race rival Embellish (Innes) also impressed when he and Duck Road (Rusof) galloped 1000m in 1:07.7, finishing off with a final 600m in 38.3. Embellish has come on well from his winning trial last week and will be an interesting runner in the Tauranga sprint. Stablemate Duck Road is likewise a good prospect in maiden grade at New Plymouth on Friday.

Andoyas (Yanagida), who is none the worse for having to be pulled up at Ellerslie last Saturday, got through his work well over 1000m in 1:09.4 and 40. He will run next at Awapuni on Saturday, as will his stablemate Wisdom Path (R Jones), who cut out 1000m in 1:05.5 and 39.4.

Tauranga entry Sunburst (A Jones) was paired with Our King Sway (Danis) over a soundly run 1000m in 1:06.8 and 39.6. Our King Sway is scheduled to run at Ellerslie next Tuesday. Resurrect (Bayliss) worked well ahead engagement with 1000m in 1:07.9 and 39.6, while Cavallo Veloce (P McKay) and Langkawi (S McKay) were not at top over the same distance in 1:10.4 and 40.2.

Ocean Emperor (Fawcett), who resumes at Awapuni on Saturday, left 1000m behind in 1:09.8 and 40.5. Pinot Grey (Rusof) and Meteoric Lass (Bakar) ran their 1000m in 1:07.4 and 40, Veine D'Or (Lammas) and Bocce (Bayliss) took 1:07.5 and 39.6, King Kane (Miller) 1:08 and 39.8, Autumn Wild (Lammas) 1:09.2 and 40.5, and Garados (Coleman) and Rio Belle (A Jones) 1:07.8 and 39.9.

Likely Awapuni starters Donizetti (S Collett) and Terra Firma (J Ritchie) completed their work well over 1000m in 1:09.8 and 40, Princess Kereru (Lammas) was kept to 1:5.2 and 44.5 over the same ground, Roll The Gold (Fawcett) returned 1:10.6 and 40.2, and Sierra Vista (S Collett) and High Distinction (C Cole) took 1:09 and 40.4.

Raspberry Sweet (Handley) and Pacquiao (Hashazumi) strode over ground and were time for the last 1200m in 1:26.5, 1:10.6 and 40.8. Just For Kicks (M Brosnan) went at an even rate over 1200m in 1:25.5 and 42.4, while Recollect (Handley) took 1:24.5 and 41.2.

Supera (Donoghue) and Code Cracker (Coleman) were hard held as they completed 1000m in 1:13.5 and 42.8. Tattle (S Collett) left 1000m behind in 1:12.4 and 40.2, while Cailin (Handley) and Ana Zorra (Hashazumi) took 1:12.2 and 41, and Sommaripa (Lammas) and Donna Imelda (Coleman) 1:09.8 and 40.6, and Scorch (Bayliss) and Salt Bay (S McKay) 1:08.2 and 40.3.

On the sand Master Painton (Newman) cut out 1000m in 1:08.4 and 39.2 ahead of his Ellerslie engagement, while Future Patch (Coleman) and Because (Bayliss) clocked 1:08.2 and 37.6.

Ellerslie entry Divine Duke (Yanagida) travelled smoothly over 1200m in 1:25.5, 1:10.2 and 41.
