Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Feature race runners at both the local Premier meeting and Otaki on the weekend were the centre of attention at Matamata this morning.
The Jamie Richards-trained trio for the Waikato Stud Slipper, Yourdeel, Aotea Lad and Equinox, looked sharp for Saturday's colts and geldings' feature when galloping on the plough. Yourdeel (Bosson) and Aotea Lad (McNab) began steadily from the 1000m mark to run that distance in 1:05.8, picking up the tempo for a final 600m in 36.6. Both appear to have trained on well from their big runs in the Karaka Million.
Equinox (Bosson) was paired with Matamata Breeders' Stakes candidate Harlow (McNab) over a smartly run 1000m in 1:04.6 and 36.2. Both youngsters are winners of their only start to date and will be interesting runners when they step up to Group company on Saturday.
Otaki Group One Classic rivals Melody Belle (Bosson) and Supera (Donoghue) were well matched over 1200m in 1:18.7, with the last 1000m in 1:02.1 and 600m in 35.5. Both classy mares are in excellent order for the weekend.
Race rival Volpe Veloce (T Harris) did her work on the dead course proper, where as usual she worked solo as she cut out 1200m in 1:17.7, with the last 1000m in 1:03.9 and the final 600m well held in 36.8. She is also in capital condition.
Talented filly Aalaalune (S McKay) prepared for the Matamata Breeders' Stakes with smart work in company with Iron Eagle (P McKay) over 1000m in 1:04.5 and the final 600m in an impressive 35.9. Waikato Stud Slipper entry Patch Prince (Bayliss) also impressed as he completed his work with Royal Patch (Yanagida) over 1000m in 1:04.1 and 36.3.
Charles Road (Yanagida) appeared to enjoy his work over ground ahead of Saturday's Kaimai Stakes, covering the last 1200m in 1:15.7, 1:03 and 36.2, while stablemate Chia Siu Bao (Tapin) followed in 1:16.2, 1:03.6 and 36.8. Roll The Gold (Fawcett) began steadily before completing his 1200m gallop in 1:18.6, 1:03.4 and 35.5.
Back on the plough, stablemates Lady Painton (Seivwright) and Lady Amadeus (Newman) caught the eye over the last 1000m of their work in 1:02.8 and 36.5. Mahalo (Hashizume) and La Mia Stella (Handley) did good work over 1200m in 1:16.6, 1:01.8 and 36, while Together (Bosson) and Military Step (McNab) also impressed with 1000m in 1:03.9 and 36.7.
Sunburst (A Jones) was strong at the end of her work in company with Our King Sway (R Jones), recording 1:03.5 and 35.6 for 1000m. Naval Fleet (S Collett) and Maison Roxanne (J Ritchie) were paired over a soundly run 1200m in 1:16, 1:01.4 and 36.3, while Classic Touch (P Turner) left 1000m behind in 1:03 and 35.5.
Tiptronic (Handley) and Sponge Bob (T Harris) were never at top over 1200m in 1:20.4, 1:04.8 and 38.6. Princess Kereru (Winter) and an O'Reilly gelding (Donoghue) took 1:06.4 and 36.7 for 1000m, while Salt Bay (Bayliss) was well held to return 1:10.6 and 37.6, as was Bridal Veil (Bayliss) over 1200m in 1:28.3, 1:11.2 and 40.8.
Taming The Shrew (Yanagida) and Jewel Patch (Danis) cut out a smart 1000m in 1:04.6 and 35.8. In quieter work Sasso Corbaro (Bosson) strolled to the line with a final 600m in 40.2 ahead of her New Zealand debut at Otaki.
On the all-weather track No Finer Pins (Tynan) prepared for the local meeting as she cut out 1000m in 1:03.5 and 36.
