26 February, 2019
New Zealand Derby contendors Arrogant, Prise De Fer and In A Twinkling all shaped well at Matamata this morning when put through their major work ahead of Saturday's Ellerslie classic.
Arrogant, ridden by raceday jockey Cameron Lammas, went right-handed 20 metres out on the good course proper with stablemate The Boy Wonder (Bayliss). The Ballymore pair cantered through their first round and built to a solid tempo over the last 1200m in 1:19.8, quickening impressively for a final 600m in 37.6. Arrogant, runner-up at his last start in the Waikato Guineas, looks very bright.

scene of her last-start win for the Mufhasa Stakes.
