Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

New Zealand St Leger candidates Peacefuleasyfeelin, Full Monty and Dubai Shuffle confirmed their fitness for the Trentham staying feature with impressive work at Matamata this morning.

On a good plough Peacefuleasyfeelin (Swann) worked solo over ground and was timed for the last 1200m in 1:20.4, 1000m in 1:05.2 and 600m in a smart 36.2. The Glenn Old-trained gelding appears bright after his below-par run at Ellerslie last week when he was unsuited by the rain-affected ground.

Graham Richardson's St Leger pair Full Monty (Coleman) and Dubai Shuffle (Sapsworth) had pace on for the last 1200m of their work in 1:17.8, with the final 1000m in 1:02.5 and the 600m in an impressive 35.8. Dubai Shuffle won well at Ellerslie on Derby day, while his stablemate was an unlucky third.

Miss Mossman confirmed a late entry for Saturday's New Zealand Oaks when co-trainer Hayden Allen took her over 1200m in 1:20.3, 1000m in 1:04.1 and 600m in 36.4. She has come through her Lowland Stakes second in good order and will be ridden by Johnathon Parkes in the Trentham fillies' classic.

Ididit (C Grylls) and Neutron Star (Sapsworth) turned in a sound trial for Te Rapa on Saturday with 1000m in 1:02.9 and 600m in 35.7. Others to work well in preparation for Te Rapa included Wolfwhistle (Misbah) and Davey Crockett (Hercock), who cut out 1000m in 1:02.2 and 36. Wolfwhistle looks ready for a bold fresh-up run after a recent trial placing, while first starter Davey Crockett has won two of his three trials.

Everlong (C Ormsby) shaped as a likely improver when she and fellow Te Rapa candidate She's Samashing (Colgan) strode over 1200m in 1:18.8, 1:03.4 and 36.3. Opt (O'Sullivan) and Irish Encore (Hutton) ran 1000m in 1:02.2 and 36, and Fiftyshadesofgrey (K Jones) did similar work in 1:03 and 36.5.

Over the same ground Babilloni (Brown) and Alagint (C Grylls) returned 1:03.8 and 37.6, Sir Darcy (Colgan) and Sovereign Rose (Miller) took 1:03.4 and 36.5, Vincent Street (K Hillis) and Dezignator (W Hillis) 1:03.6 and 37.4, Madam Kirk (Goodwin) 1:09.6 and 39.8, and The Arabian Duke (C Grylls) and a Brilliance gelding (Swann) 1:07.8 and 39.

Whosyourmaster (O'Sullivan) was never at top as he prepared for Trentham with 1000m in 1:05.6 and 37.6. Powerplaya (B Grylls) was kept to 1:24.2 and 41.6 over 1200m, while Volcano (R Jones) did similar work in 1:27.5 and 41.4. King's Fortune (Leveque), who runs at Te Teko on Monday, and Te Rapa candidate Hassle Free (Dowling) covered the same ground in 1:19, 1:04.1 and 37.6.

Rivertaine Coup (C Grylls) and Alice Webb Ellis (Sapsworth) left 1000m behind in 1:05 and 38.3. Labels (B Grylls) ran the same trip in 1:05.7 and 36.4, and Meomyo (McRae) took 1:06 and 37.4.

On the all-weather track last start Ellerslie winner Jimmy Hoffa (Colgan) drew attention to his St Leger prospects when he shaded Lightning Handicap prospect Antonio Lombardo (S McKay) at the end of 1000m in 1:05.2 and 37.

Victory Dragon (B Lang), another for Trentham, ran in from the 800m in 55.3 and 600m in 40.2, while Wisecrack (K Jones) strode over the last 1200m of his work in 1:20.5, with the 1000m in 1:06 and 600m in 38.6.
