Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Fastfoot looked on target for another winning effort this weekend when he galloped well during a wet and windy training session at Matamata this morning when fast work was at a minimum.

Ridden by co-trainer Hayden Allen 28 metres out on a water-logged course proper, Fastfoot got through a solid 1000m in 1:09.2 and hit the line strongly off a final 600m in 39.8. Fastfoot won well at Wanganui 10 days ago and appears to have trained on well heading into Saturday's Awapuni meeting.

Traveller (K Jones) worked well in preparation for Ruakaka on Saturday as he covered the last 1000m of his gallop in 1:09.8 and 600m in 40.2. He has made pleasing progress since his recent bold fresh-up effort. Awapuni candidate Maeve Davone (Smith) was partnered by The Energizer (R Jones) over 1000m in 1:09.6 and 41.8, while Unknown Pleasure (C Ormsby) and Style Is Eternal (Ormando) were well contained over the same distance in 1:13.9 and 42.2.

All Decked Out (Hercock) was also kept to steady work over 1000m in 1:15.6 and 44.7. The talented colt, who reappeared with a trial placing at Te Teko last week, will be entered for Ruakaka but a start will be reliant on an improvement in the weather.

Passing Parade (C Ormsby) and Flying Fantasy (Ormando) worked strongly in preparation for their respective weekend engagements at Awapuni and Ruakaka, but could not be timed due to poor light.

Several horses schooled over hurdles, including Awapuni Hurdle candidate Brer (Miller), who looked sharp over eight flights. He finished a solid third behind Indikator when resuming over jumps at Hastings last week.

Another from the Bridgman stable, Sunset Pass, was ridden by Tom Hazlett in a solid school. He is a likely improver if he takes his place in the maiden hurdle at Awapuni. Straight Furrow (Cole) and Society Rose (Brick) were paired in a sound school over eight flights of hurdles.
