Matamata Tuesday Trackwork

Awapuni-bound Pure Champion was handled by raceday rider Craig Grylls in smart work on the course proper at Matamata this morning.

Working with the markers out 15 metres and the track rated dead, Pure Champion was settled as he covered 1000m in 1:04.2 and ran home the final 600m in 37. After his below-par Captain Cook Strakes effort, he will drop back to 1400 metres for Saturday's Listed Awapuni sprint.

Strada Lady and Sworntomylover worked together over 1000m in a time of 1:07.2 and 37.3, while Villars (Grylls) and Alice Webb Ellis (Sapsworth) covered the same distance in 1:04.6 and 37.8.

Also on the course proper, Sonsy (Cameron) and Longbeach (Hercock) strode over in 1200m 1:20.1 and 37.9 for the final 600m. Flash Harry (M Brosnan) worked solo in 1:19.5 and 39.8, Tiara (Hercock) was doing her best work on the line as she went 1:20.3 and 37.5, while Dubai Shuffle (Sapsworth) also worked strongly solo in 1:17 and 37.1.

Stablemates Sultry Assassin (Grylls) and Victoryshallbemine (Sapsworth) pairing up to work in 1:19.8 and 38.1. Chazelle (J Collett) and Massofdash (Blair) worked together on the rail in 1.18 and 37.5,

On the sand Spellbinder (Hercock) was back in action, galloping an easy 800m in 1:01.4 and 43 for the final 600m. Joey Massino (S McKay) was sharp over 1000m in 1:05 and 36.5.

That's How We Roll (Ormsby) and She's Samashing (Grylls) stretched out over 1000m in 1:04 and 36.8, while Silk Chardonnay (A Jones) did similar work in 1:06 and 38. Also from the Fursdon stable, Muscat Hills (A Jones) was allowed an easy 1000m in 1:12.1 and 40.4. Darci's Dream (Miller) looked well as she went at three-quarter-pace over 1000m.

On the all-weather track No Deal (Leveque) and Payday (Hillis) galloped 1000m in 1:03.1 and 37 for the in-form Hillis stable. Caduceus (Tynan) worked over 800m in an easy 57.6 and 42.7.
