Maximum Control - Impressive Singapore Debut

Te Akau Racing Stable owners had another winner on Sunday night at Kranji Racecourse in Singapore, when Maximum Control (3 g Written Tycoon - Alcatraz, by Fastnet Rock) scored on debut in the S$75,000 Restricted Maiden 1400 metres on turf.

Carrying 57kg under Louis Beuzelin, Maximum Control travelled comfortably in seventh before improving at the 600m and kept winding up to eventually win stylishly.

Originally purchased for A$625,000 by James Bester Bloodstock and Coolmore Stud at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Maximum Control was back throughout in two trials as a two-year-old at Rosehill, and trainer Chris Waller sold him on behalf of owners in the 2022 Inglis September (Late) Online Sale.

On the job, he was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for A$85,000 and syndicated by Karyn-Fenton Ellis MNZM, who reported having some very happy owners after winning a S$75,000 race on debut.

Maximum Control is a brother to Tasmanian Oaks (Listed, 2100m) winner Bundle of Fun, and half-brother to Bernborough Plate (Listed, 1600m) winner and Group One placed Kubrick (Shooting to Win), suggesting he too will appreciate further which was evident in the manner of his debut effort.

Te Akau trainer Donna Logan trialled Maximum Control twice before racing, saying: “The winners of the trials clocked moderate times, but he has drawn well in barrier three for his debut and there doesn't appear to be any superstars in the field.

“We expect him to take good improvement for the run and will be watching his performance with plenty of interest.”

By Champion Sire Written Tycoon (Iglesia), whose progeny have amassed A$33 million at sales this year and also shown to nick very well with Fastnet Rock (Danehill) mares, the family of Maximum Control has produced a good amount of winners, including dual Hong Kong Horse of the Year Fairy King Prawn (Danehill).

With 115 stakes' wins as a sire, including 15 Group One, Written Tycoon is also a sire of sires, with Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner Capitalist, Group One winners Written By and Ole Kirk, and Rich Enuff, Winning Rupert.
