Melody Belle's Livamol Classic win at Hastings in October saw her became the most successful Group 1 racehorse in New Zealand, with nine victories recorded at the elite level.
Her 10th Group 1 win, though, was her most important. It was her first in Australia, and fittingly, it came in a race named after another queen of New Zealand turf, the 1988 Mackinnon Stakes and Melbourne Cup winner Empire Rose. Melody Belle backed up that stunning performance with an amazing second in the Mackinnon Stakes a week later.
Bought by David Ellis Te Akau Racing at New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales for $57,500 from the draft of Haunui Farm, trained by Jamie Richards and syndicated by Fortuna she's had 15 wins from 26 starts, 10 Group 1s and just over $3 million in earnings - she's an All-Star!
