Melody Belle & Stars Aplenty in Grp 1 Futurity

racenet.com.au reports:

Group I stars Melody Belle and Kolding will make their first 2020 Melbourne autumn appearances while CF Orr Stakes winner Alabama Express won't run in the Group I Futurity Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Mike Moroney was considering running his three-year-old colt Alabama Express against the older horses in the Futurity but has decided against it.

Alabama Express will be kept for the Group I Australian Guineas at Flemington on Saturday week.

However, as expected, another three-year-old colt was among the eight acceptors for the $500,000 Futurity Stakes (1400m).

Caulfield Guineas winner Super Seth will run in the Futurity after Anthony Freedman decided to run him against the older horses rather than in last week's CS Hayes Stakes which featured a ding-dong battle between Alligator Blood and Catalyst.

Super Seth is one of the acceptors in the Futurity - another one of the headline horses is 10-time Group I winning Kiwi mare Melody Belle.

The Jamie Richards-trained five-year-old won the Empire Rose Stakes and finished second behind Magic Wand in the Mackinnon Stakes during last year's Melbourne spring carnival.

Melody Belle is an aspirant for next month's $5 million All-Star Mile as is Golden Eagle winner Kolding. Kolding will make the first Melbourne appearance of his career.

Group I Caulfield Stakes winner Cape Of Good Hope will make his return in the Futurity as will old stager Black Heart Bart.
