Milestone for Matt

It could well be a season of Te Akau milestones - Mark Walker, Te Akau Singapore trainer, sits on 999 career wins - could the magic and rare 1000 win come up this weekend?  Mark's season thus far certainly suggests that prospect is well and truly on the cards.

Te Akau New Zealand's stable rider Matt Cameron is also looking at securing a milestone this season as he chases down his first Jockeys' Premiership win.

You may recall how very close he went last year with his battle against Lisa Allpress going right down to the wire, the duel being settled on the very last day of the racing season.  Matt rode 156 winners last season to Lisa's 159.

With around a fortnight remaining and 13 racedays, Matt sits second on the Jockeys' Premiership behind Opie Bosson.  Matt with 131 winners is only six off Opie who has ridden 137 and the chase is on.

We believe that Matt can win his first Jockeys' Premiership - he works so hard, he travels across the country and he rides his heart out - so GO MATT!  We are cheering you home every ride and we know that all Te Akau owners and friends will be doing likewise.

We will keep you updated with Matt's progress after each raceday - and here's to celebrating with Mark very, very soon!
