After attending all the major sales in Australasia in the last six months, we finally got some really good value at the Magic Millions' Gold Coast National Yearling Sale yesterday.
To think we could buy a stunning Sebring filly for $57,500 (the brown/grey girl pictured below), an athletic Camelot filly with a terrific pedigree for $100,000 (the second photo below) and a colt that I think can win a Derby by the exciting young stallion So You Think (third picture below), out of a stakes' winning mare, for $52,500 was particularly good buying. I thought these horses, all with premier sale pedigrees would have made double or more at Karaka.
Have a look at these two fillies at the colt who will be on our website today and you will see just what stunning individuals they are.

Sebring is having a terrific run of form, with his filly Egg Tart notching her sixth consecutive win on Saturday in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks. We couldn't be more excited about the progeny of Camelot having purchased a filly on the Gold Coast in January who is full of promise - she has broken particularly well and we think he is one of the most exciting stallion prospects in the world. So You Think has of course sired the Group 1 winning kiwi filly La Diosa, who was a super impressive winner of the Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas at Riccarton last year.
To buy three quality yearlings by these exciting stallions for the prices that we did is incredible value.
Further exciting news is that Opie Bosson flew over to Brisbane on Monday night and was on hand for track work at the Gold Coast Turfclub on Tuesday morning where he galloped our runners for this weekend at Doomben. He was very impressed with how they all worked. Jamie Richards, Kerry Jones and Mason Stevens have done a great job with our team of horses over here and we are confident that the horses will run well on Saturday.
I was over the moon for the whole Gingernuts' team to hear that Gingernuts' Avondale Guineas' win had been voted as the Ellerslie 'Performance of the Year' - this announcement was made on Queen's Birthday Monday by the Auckland Racing Club at its final race meeting of the season - most exciting still was the fact he was also named Ellerslie "Horse of the Year" - well done to his ownership team and all our staff and Opie - it's been a great season for this horse and everyone connected with him.
Gingernuts cost $42,500 when I bought him from the Karaka Ready to Run Sale and this season his prizemoney hit the $1 million plus mark - with his wins in the Group 1 NZ Derby, the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas in Sydney and of course his unforgettable Group 2 Avondale Guineas' victory. He is now back in the stable - with his owners having turned down an offer of $3 million for him - as we make plans for his Spring campaign - exciting times ahead. His owners deserve every sucess that comes their way with their unbridled passion and joy in racing the horse we call "Jerry".
