On Exhibition at Matamata

Our $1m Karaka Million (Restricted Listed, 1200m) winner Probabeel (3 f Savabeel - Far Fetched, by Pins) and stakes placed Equinox (3 c Exceed and Excel - Our Ella Belle, by Encosta De Lago) had an exhibition gallop between races on 28 December at Matamata.

Ridden by Opie Bosson and Michael McNab, respectively, the pair worked over 1000m in 1:01.4, last 600m in 34.5, on footing rated Dead5.

While trainer Jamie Richards was undecided on the immediate path for Probabeel, he does have a race in mind for Equinox.

“I've earmarked the 3YO 1200 metres on 12January at Ellerslie, and hopefully to the Mr Tiz Trophy (Gr. 3, 1200m) on Karaka Million night,” Richards said.

Owned by Brendan Lindsay MNZM & Jo Lindsay at Cambridge Stud, Probabeel was purchased as a yearling by David Ellis for $380,000, from the draft of Waikato Stud, at the 2018 Karaka Book 1 Sale. With over $750,000 in prize money and enormous residual value, Probabeel contested the Princess Series during a spring campaign in Sydney, finishing fourth in the Furious Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) and runner-up in both the Tea Rose Stakes (Gr. 2, 1400m) and Flight Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m).
