This is a striking son of Stratum bought by David Ellis at the Sydney Easter Sale for A$200,000.
A beautifully put-together colt with a lovely walk, strong and athletic his family is full of elite performers - and also juvenile performers too. With his physicality and his pedigree, you can well imagine he will get up and run as a two year old.
Importantly this colt has the credentials to stand at stud - he is closely related to Redoute's Choice, Platinum Scissors, Manhattan Rain, Al Maher, Echoes of Heaven and Rubick who will stand for the first time this year - stallion, stallion, stallion, stallion, stallion and stallion!
Stratum has already sired a Golden Slipper winner and nearly 30 stakes' winners - his progeny were eagerly sought after at the Sydney sale and there in no doubt that striking early was the key. Our colt came up very early in the catalogue and we were ready for him - he was terrific buying.
Our colt is out of the four time winning Red Ransom mare Princess Narine who made A$600,000 when sold as a broodmare. She is a half sister Group and Listed winners Precious Lorraine (Encosta de Lago) and Lucky Raquie (Encosta de Lago).
His grandmother is the Danehill mare Monsoon Wedding - the full sister to Redoute's Choice and Platinum Scissors, three quarter sister to Al Maher and Sliding Cube (the Group winning the dam of Rubick) and the half sister to Manhattan Rain and Echoes of Heaven - she fetched a stunning A$2.3 million when she went through the Magic Millions' broodmare sale.
Other very familiar and successful names in our colt's family include Hurricane Sky and Umatilla - he has everything going for him! This is the same sale where Te Akau purchased Sassy "N" Smart who won a stakes' race at just her second start, having already won on debut. Our goal would be to follow a racing pattern very similar to that of other star two year old colt Heroic Valour.
