Prise De Fer Looking Fine

Prise De Fer  (Savabeel) had an exhibition gallop between races on 25 November at Te Rapa, ahead of the $200,000 Rydges Wellington Captain Cook Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m) on 5 December at Trentham.

Group 2 & 3 winner and Group 1 placed, Prise De Fer produced an eye-catching third when resuming in the Foxbridge Plate (Gr. 2, 1200m) on 5 September at Te Rapa, and notable behind stable-mate Melody Belle (Commands) in both the Windsor Park Plate (Gr. 1, 1600m) and Livamol Classic (Gr. 1, 2040m) at Hastings, before being freshened.

Ridden by Opie Bosson, Prise De Fer worked at three-quarter pace from the 1200 metres, increasing pace from the 1000m and clocking his final 600m in 35 flat.

“He was pretty laidback working by himself, but he felt good and appreciated some cut in the track,” Bosson said. “He needed the gallop and I gave him a little push along in the straight. He's stronger this time in and looks a different horse.”

Rich Hill Mile (Gr. 2, 1600m) winner Prise De Fer, owned by the Te Akau En Guarde Syndicate (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), was purchased by David Ellis CNZM for $100,000, from the draft of Trelawney Stud (for Raffles Farm), at the 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale, and now won six of his 17 starts.

In a market just released, Prise De Fer is $6.00 fixed odds in the Captain Cook Stakes (Gr. 1, 1600m).
