Riccarton Park track work highlights - Tuesday 19 September -

The plough and both trial grasses were closed for this morning's session after 18mm of rain had fallen at Riccarton Park in the previous 24 hours. All fast work was completed on the No. 6 grass where the going was slow, bordering on heavy.

The Te Akau stable visitors of Age Of Fire (Miller) and Tiffany's Time (Newman) were two of this morning's best when they upped the tempo from the 800m and were timed for the final 600m in 36.6. Stablemate Grazia also caught the eye when she worked from the 1200m in 1.19.6 and reeling off the final 600m in 37.4

Heart of Courage (Newman) and Swing Note (Miller) were two more to impress when they galloped strongly in the testing ground over 1000m in 1.05.6, getting home the last 600m in 37.6 and the final 400m in 25.0.

The Furlong/Kennedy trained Maui Miss which handles wet ground impressed in her work when she went from the 1000m in 1.04.2, the final 600m in 37.9. She is a nomination for Riccarton Park this Saturday.

From the Pitman stable the two best of the morning were the three-year-olds Sensei (Moore) and the maiden filly Pippiana who galloped together over 1000m in 1.06.4, finishing strongly locked together, the final 600m taking only 35.6.

From the Hughes stable Son of Zac (Robertson) and Hot Fuss (Jonker) were paired together from the 800m which took 56.1 but speeding up in the second half of the work, the final 400m taking 24.8. Stablemates Pat In Brackets (Jonker) and Maybe Miami (Robertson) were timed from the 600m in 37.6.

The Peter Rudkin trained pair of Sharp Elle (White) and Honor That (Robertson) worked together from the 1000m but were timed only over the final 400m which took 24.8 with Sharp Elle winning the gallop by more than a length. From the same stable What A Deezer (Mosely) and Fully Pumped (White) were timed to gallop from the 1000m in 1.06.9, the final 600m taking 39.2.

Royal Red (Yatin) worked alone from the 800m in 55.1, upping the tempo towards the end of the work with the final 600m taking 37.8. Not Available (Scarlet) also went from the 800m but galloped more evenly throughout, the 800m taking 53.8 and the final 600 in 38.8.

Nowhere Man (Gundowry) and So Brazen (Morgan) were timed together from the 1000m in 1.08.0, finishing the work well over the final 600m in 36.5. Son Of Maher looked in great order when he stepped out to run 1000m in 1.06.2 but wasn't extended over the final 600m in 39.1. Enzo' Lad who doesn't like the wet tracks wasn't asked for time when worked over 800m, well within himself.

Lady Amadeus (Miller) worked alone from the 1000m in 1.11.9 and also wasn't asked for time in covering the last 600m in 41.1. More urgent were the mare's stablemates King Kane (Miller) and Astrid (Newman) who went together late in the session from the 800m in 54.6, increasing the tempo for the final 400m in 25.1.

Saronic Miss (Shaikh) worked well over 800m in 51.2 with the last 400m in 25.1. Locally Sauced (Coster) galloped alone from 600m in 40.3. Disruption (Coster) did similar work over 600m in 41.4. Spritz (Wynne) also went from the 600m in an easy 42.9.

Just A Jacket and Rawmaterial (Morris) from the Les Didham stable worked up well together over 1200m in 1.20.6, coming home the final 400m in 26.4. The Terri Rae trained Shoot To Kill (Thistoll) three-quarter paced from 1400m and was timed only from the 800m in 56.2. Stablemate Bloodstream worked two laps in the semi-dark at the start of the session. Riding Shotgun (Rae) was timed from the 1000m 1.09.1, the final 600m in 40.0.

Montrachet (Carston) and I'llav Bubbles (Cameron) went a very easy 800m in 1.00.1, the last 600m in 42.3. Hannah Marene (Carston) and Hee's Our Secret (Cameron) went onto the track together but separated by six lengths, the former being timed from the 800m in 1.01.4, the last 600 in 39.4.

Damanaka (Olwagen) went easily from the 1000m in 1.24.0, the last 600m in 47.4.  Lake Chalice (Speedie) and Alakazam (Coster) moved into their work from the 1000m and were timed from the 800m in 52.7, the final 600m in 38.5. Kasiano (Bishop) three-quartered at the start of his 800m in 58.3 but warmed into his work, the final 600m taking 38.3. Acekingsuited (Kwo) went from the 800m and was timed from the 600m in 40.8.

Late in the session the well performed Night Nurse (Moore) galloped with Sweet Time (Shaikh) over 1000m in 1.05.2, the final 600m in 38.0. Montoya Star went alone over 600m in 40.5

The Mike McCann trained Holyfield (Scarlet) worked easily from the 1000m in 1.14., the last 600m in 42.4. Similar work was achieved by Goodtago (Bennet) when she went from the 1000m in 1.12.0, the last 600m in 41.8.
