Riccarton Park trackwork highlights - Tuesday 17 October -

The weather was fine for fast work this morning and the big trial grass was open for fast work where the going was a Dead6. The grass was long which kept times in check.
One of the best of the morning came from the Brian Court trained three-year-old and 2000 Guineas nominated Upperhand (Burnett) who galloped alone from the 800m in 48.5, cutting out the final 600m in 36.0. Upperhand is a likely starter in Saturday's Group Three Barneswood Farm Stakes at Ashburton over 1400m. Carnival (Jonker) and Troy Boy (Robertson) also impressed when they went 800m in 48.3, the last 600m in 36.0.

The Te Akau visitors Tiffany's Time (Newman) and Imperium (Miller) galloped together from the 1000m in 1.04.3, getting to the end of the distance strongly to record 36.5 for the final 600m. Earlier in the session Heart Of Courage (Miller) and Age Of Fire (Newman), also a Barneswood nomination went together from the 800m in 51.3, the final 600m in 37.6.

Laafaire (Kwo) and Royal Road (Bennet) showed their fitness when they were timed together from the 600m in 36.2. Los Cabos (Speedie) went solo from the 1000m in 1.04.6, the final 600m taking 36.5. Indy Evolution (Young) was timed only from the 600m but also recorded 36.5. Top sprinter Batman (Bennet) worked well from the 800m in 51.5, cutting out the final 400m of that gallop in 24.1

From the Pitman stable Montoya Star (Moore) and Savvy Coup (Morgan) were paired together from the 1000m which took 1.05.7, the two getting to the line strongly for the final 600m in 36.0. Last start winner and stablemate Saronic Miss (Morgan) went alone but did similar work from the 1000m in 1.05.0, the final 600m in 36.7. Queen Serene (Moore) and Elfee (Wynne) also galloped together from the 1000m in but were timed only from the 600m in 36.8.

The Crozier trained The Real Deal (Wynne) galloped his 1000m alone in 1.08.8, the last 600m in 36.9. Kwezi (Callaway) also galloped solo and was timed from the 800m in 49.9, the last 600m in 36.7. Fairlight (Morris) and Twoznotenough from the Didham stable went together over 800m in 48.8.

The Andrew Carston trained I'llav Bubbles and and Nakuru (Cameron) were doing their best work at the end of 1000m together in 1.10.5, the final 600m in 36.9. Elusive Boxers (Wynne) went alone over 800m in 51.4, the last 600m in 37.8. Prince Ransom (Moore) went from the 800m which took 50.9. Wise Move (Kwo) and an unnamed Zacinto gelding went over 800m in a respectable 50.3.

The inform Hughes trained pair of Hot Fuss (Jonker) and Son Of Zac (Robertson) ran a slick 1000m together in 1.03.0, the last 600m taking 37.0. Night Nurse (Moore) went 1000m alone in 1.05.2, the last 600m in 37.0. Velocci (Moseley) and Kasiano (Bishop) did similar work from the 1000m in 1.05.4, the final 600m in 37.8. Disruption (Coster) was solo over 1000m in 1.08.6, the last 600m in 38.5. Firestarter (Jonker) and Mr Toolman (Robertson) went from the 800m together in 52.0, the final 600m in 37.1.

Goodtago (Scarlet) from the Mike McCann stable three-quartered to the 1000m from where he was timed to run 1.09.2, increasing the tempo towards the end of the gallop, the last 600m taking 37.3. Strown (Carston) and Montrachet (Cameron) were timed together from the 800m in 53.7, the last 600m in 38.4. Stonemason (Olwagen) and Red River Rock (Firdhaus) were slightly more urgent over 800m in 51.6, the last 600m in 38.1

Not Available (Scarlet) galloped 1000m alone in 1.06.2, the last 600m in 37.6. Last start winner Twilight Meteor (Young) displayed her fitness when timed from the 800m in 50.2, the last 600m in 37.1. Capone In Charge (Speedie) and Disturbance (Coster) were impressive together from the 1000m in 1.04.3, the last 600m in 38.0. Shoot To Kill (Thistoll) and Moyrabella (Rae) were paired from the 800m in 53.8, the last 600m in 38.4. Moby (Murphy) three-quartered from the 1600m but was timed only from the 800m in 53.8.

Gloss (Wynne) and So Brazen (Morgan) went their 800m together in 51.6. Let It Rip Riley (White) galloped solo from the 800m in 51.7, the last 600m in 37.6. Flying Ibis (Moore) and Kinagat (Shaikh) galloped together evenly over 1000m in 1.04.2, the last 600m in 38.7. What A Deezer (White) and Sharp Elle (Fuller) went over 1000m together in 1.05.9, the last 600m in 39.8. Locally Sauced (Coster) went alone from the 1000m in 1.07.2, the last 600m in 39.2.

Fully Pumped (Robertson) and Honour That (White) recorded their 800m together in 51.9. For the same journey Shangold (Thistoll) took 54.8 while stablemate Suggestion (Rae) took 52.0, the last 600m in 39.9. Galloping together from the 1000m On Debut (Morris) and Raw Material (Krall) went 1.06.3 the last 600m in 39.1.

First Of A Kind (Callaway) galloped with an unknown partner over 1000m in 1.07, the last 600m in 39.8 Late in the session Queen Serene (Moore) and Elfee (Wynne) were timed only for their final 600m which took 36.9. Qaintrelle (Shaikh) went alone over 1000m in 1.06.8, the last 600m in 39.7. Barabas (Morgan) went over 1000m in 1.08.9, the final 600m in 37.6. Enzo's Lad was timed from the 800m in 53.8, the last 600m in 39.6.

Paris Awaits (Coster) and Franglais (Olwagen) went together over 800m in 52.5, the last 600m in 38.9. Anzac Coup (Morgan) and Macario (Shaikh) were timed from the 1000m in 1.07.5, the last 600m in 40.7. Hollyfield (Scarlet) three-quatered paced from the 1000m, the last 600m in 41.7.

Others were Pat In Brackets (Jonker) who went 800m in 55.0, Suzerain (Wynne) who went from the 1000m in 1.13.4, the last 600m in 40.0, Sulcifera (Murphy) 600m in 39.0, Forge (Scarlet) 1000m in 1.15.9, Wagner (Wynne) 800m in 55.4, the last 600m in 40.9.  Our Nina (Scarlet) went from the 800m in 58.9.

Dermot (Morgan) was timed 1000m in 1.13.5, the last 600m in 40.8. Czechoslovakia (Morgan) was marginally quicker over 1000m in 1.12.2. the last 600m in 39.6. No Emotion (Shaikh) galloped alone over 1000m in 1.10.7, the last 600m in 40.8. Killa Question was timed from the 600m in 38.5.
