Riccarton Park trackwork highlights - Tuesday 24 October -

The tracks have dried out at Riccarton Park and fast times were recorded both on the plough and the big trial grass where the markers were on the inside lane. The plough wasn't watered prior to the session and the going was firmer than normal.


Upperhand
(Burnett) and Director (Alton) from the Brian Court stable were two of the best workers of the morning on the plough when they galloped together over 1000m in 1.03.5 with Director getting to the finish strongly two lengths clear of his companion at the end of the final 600m in 34.6. The Te Akau mare Grazia (Newman) also impressed when she galloped solo over 1000m in 1.02.4 with the final 600m cut out in 35.0.

The Hughes trained stablemates Hot Fuss (Jonker) and Son Of Zac (Robertson) are likely runners at Riccarton on Saturday and both showed their readiness when they were timed together over 1000m in 1.01.2, keeping up a strong gallop to the finish over the final 600m in 35.6. Stablemate Lindis Pass (Jonker) also galloped strongly over 1000m alone on the plough in 1.01.7, the final 600m in 36.5.

The Ross Beckett pair of Beneficial (Power) and Don't Get Caught (Moseley) were timed on the plough over 800m in 46.7 with the final 600m in 34.9. Avantage (Newman) and Lady Amadeus (Miller) who are both getting ready for Saturday ran a slick 800m on the plough in 46.6.

Whackomaco (Wyllie) worked well over 1000m in 1.04.8, doing his best at the finish, the last 600m taking 35.2. Stablemates Ancient (Wyllie) and Mavrick (J Robinson) galloped 1000m on the plough in 1.03.3, the last 600m in 36.6. Twilight Meteor (Young) was timed from the 600m in 35.7. Wafer (Wynne) went alone from the 800m in 49.1, the last 600m in 36.3. Irish Call (Wynne) went over 600m alone in 36.4.

Fast work on the grass was dominated by the Pitman stable which produced four winners on Saturday with horses that all worked well last week. The stable's best this morning came from the unraced Jamie (Shaikh) and Pilau Penang (Gundowry) who were sent out together over 800m in 47.8, the last 600m in 34.2. Coup Dreamwood (Moore) and an unnamed Al Maher colt (Moore) were also slick on the grass over 800m in 47.4, the last 600m in 34.6.

From the Hughes stable Troy Boy (Jonker) and Carnival (Robertson) were timed together from the 800m in 46.9, the last 600m in 34.7. Similar work was achieved by Devious (Speedie) and Alakazam (Coster) who went together on the grass over 800m 46.8, the last 600m in 35.3. Bonaparte (Jonker) and the two-year-old Anne (Robertson) galloped together over 600m in 34.6.

The Pitman pair of Zakynthos (Moore) and Barabas (Shaikh) may run against each other on Saturday at Riccarton. They showed they were ready when over 800m they clocked just 46.8, the last 600m in 34.7. From the same stable Pipiana (Wynne) was timed alone from the 1000m in 1.05.2, the last 600m in a slick 34.9. Son of Maher (Morgan) and Night Nurse (Moore) were paired together over 800m in 49.2, the final 600m in 34.9.

Dermot (Morgan) and Thunder Bay (Hong) were timed from the 600m in 35.5. Other Pitman charges to go quick included Mahana (Moore) and Smile (Morgan) who went together over 600m in 34.6. Pinup Coup (Hong) and Anzac Coup (Morgan) were timed from the 800m 49.2, picking up the pace for the final 600m in 34.5. Mr Typhon (Moore) and Enzo's Lad (Wynne) went an easier 800m together on the grass in 52.0, the final 600m in 36.9

Maui Miss (Coster) was timed from the 1000m on the grass in 1.07.5. La Seyne (Coster) three-quarter paced from the 1400m but quickened for the final 600m in 40.1. Others on the grass were the Pitman pair of Gloss (Wynne) and Macario (Hong) over 800m in 49.3, the last 600m in 35.3, Savason (Shaikh) over 800m in 50.6, the last 600m in 37.2, Aquazurra (Hong) which went over 800m in 50.5, the final 600m in 36.3.

Prince Ramson (Shaikh) galloped well late in the session on the grass when timed from the 1000m in 1.03.9, the last 600m in 35.5. No Emotion was also timed from the 1000m in 1.06.5, quickening over the final 400m in 23.5. An unnamed Swiss Ace filly (Moore) and a Highly Recommended two-year-old gelding from the Pitman stable were breezed up together over 600m on the grass 36.9.

On the plough Ferocious (Scarlet) went from the 1000m alone in 1.08.5, the final 600m in 40.1. Minerva (Taylor) was more urgent over the same distance in 1.06.7, the last 600m in 37.9. Zentessa (Coster) also worked from the 1000m on the plough in 1.08.8, the last 400m in 26.7. Last start winner Pendleton (Coster) wasn't extended on the plough when recording 1.08.5 for the same journey, his last 600m in 40.1.

Ticky Tu ((Robertson) and an unnamed four-year-old mare by Raise The Flag galloped well together over 1000m on the plough in 1.04.6, the last 600m in 38.0. Jewel of Jumeriah (Wynne) went 800m in 49.3, the last 600m in 36.2. Who Dares Wins (Williams) and Miacoca (Yatim) from the Prendergast stable were paired together over 800m in 49.3, the last 600m in 36.4. Pat In Brackets (Jonker) galloped well over 1000m in 1.03.6, the last 600m in 36.9.

Others on the plough included Swing Note (Miller) which was timed from the 600m in 37.7. Irish Call (Wynne) was asked to gallop 600m which took 36.4.  Stonemason (Olwagen) and The Rosy Glow (Firdhaus) worked together from the 800m in 53.3, the last 600m in 39.0. Strowan (Carston) and Platinum Command (Cameron) went together on the plough over 1000m in 1.06.7, the last 600m in 36.5.

Riding Shotgun (Rae) went on the plough over 800m in 58.7, Onemorewhiskey (Wynne) went 600m in 39.1, Savannah Gem (Kwo) galloped 800m in 51.8, Stillwaters (Jamie) went 600m in 42.2. Mr Tool (Jonker) went over 1000m in 1.10.3, the last 600m in 37.3. Opouri (Kwo) went 600m on the plough in 38.7. I'm Horace (Robertson) and Aryacrazy (White) went on the plough together from the 800m in 48.7, the last 600m in 35.6.
