Royal Ascot Hero Circus Maximus Off the Mark

Te Akau was impressed with the first crop of Circus Maximus' yearlings at Karaka this year and purchased two colts and a filly by the exiting young sire - who himself was an elite class racehorse!

We have limited, final shares available in one colt who was outstanding value for money ... our Circus Maximus/Qiji Vision colt. He's a ripper, out of an Iffraaj mare, this is the family of prolific stakes' winners such as Who Dares Wins and Brave Lancer who both won 10 races, the former with three in succession, the latter with four in a row!

The exciting update coming out of the UK over the weekend was that 'Glorious Goodwood' provided dual Royal Ascot hero Circus Maximus with his first-crop 2YO winner Alerta Maxima on Friday night.

Improving from her debut run, Alerta Maxima lay midfield in the running before delivering a telling turn of foot to take the lead with a furlong to go and draw away for a comprehensive length victory over her twelve rivals.

In a busy career racing throughout Europe as well as in the United States, Circus Maximus proved a Champion Miler, winning three Group 1 races at that distance including the sire-making St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and Prix de Moulin de Longchamp as a three-year-old.

A Group 1 performed two-year-old, Circus Maximus returned to Royal Ascot for his four-year-old debut run to win the coveted Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes over his favoured 1600m distance.

A son of the legendary Galileo, Circus Maximus was bred by the Niarchos family and is the only foal out of DUNTLE, who was first past the post in the Group 1 Matron Stakes for the Niarchos family.

Circus Maximus shuttles from Coolmore, Ireland to Windsor Park Stud, New Zealand.

One of the best examples of the outstanding Group 1 cross of Galileo and Danehill Dancer, (7.5% SW/Rnrs, 78 SW, 16 Gr.1winners) which has produced the likes of multiple Group 1 winners Minding, Sovereign, Winter, Tuesday etc, Circus Maximus was trained throughout his glittering international career by Ballydoyle supremo Aidan O'Brien who also produced him to place at the highest Group 1 level in the Breeders' Cup Mile, Prix Jacques le Marois and two editions of the Sussex Stakes.

Popular with breeders, CIRCUS MAXIMUS had his first Southern Hemisphere yearlings sell to A$260,000 in 2024. He commences his fourth season in 2024 at Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge where his advertised fee is $17,500+GST.
