Saturday Win No.2 - Perfect Pazienza

Impressive winning on debut as a two-year-old, Pazienza (3 f Written Tycoon - Gypsy Chimes, by Snow Ridge) resumed with a strong win in the $22,500 Farmlands Rating 65 1200 metres on Saturday at Hastings.

In the Cambridge Stud colours of Brendan Lindsay (MNZM) & Jo Lindsay, Pazienza returned home after a spring campaign in Australia, and signalled her readiness when making good ground in the straight for third when trialling on 6 April at Ellerslie.

Favoured in betting ($3.10 & $1.40), Pazienza utilized barrier one to lead but she received no peace with two horses to her outer. Apprentice jockey Ashvin Goindasamy was unfazed when headed nearing the 600m, kicked to a two-length advantage on straightening and she had her rivals covered thereafter.

Scoring by three-quarters of a length, Pazienza ran the 1200 metres in 1:11.9 on footing rated Dead5.

“It was a good strong win from a filly that's back in form,” said trainer Jamie Richards. “She was a little bit disappointing in Sydney, but is a lovely type of filly and really come to it lately.

“We gave her a couple of preparatory trials and she was given a nice ride by Ashvin (Goindasamy) in what looked a suitable race for her to prove competitive fresh-up.

“She showed a fair bit of determination, she wanted to be there, and I thought she won really well.”

Pazienza is a half-sister to former stable-mate and stakes performed winner Folk Dress (Pierro), offered by Coolmore Stud and bought for $280,000 by Cambridge Stud at the 2019 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Pazienza was strapped by Tracy Collis.
