Seasons of Success

There are only 21 race fixtures remaining in Singapore until the final day of the season (Sunday 13 December) - and Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker remains in control of the Singapore Trainers' Premiership.

There is no question that the competition will heat up in these final weeks but the exciting news is that we have a full stable and a waiting list of horses whose owners want to be part of our operation.

Mark has trained 65 winners for the season thus far, with stakes' approaching $4 million for our owners - a simply fantastic fifth season for him and his team.  Our placegetters have also contributed to this impressive prizemoney tally with Mark preparing 58 runners-up and 95 third and 64 fourth placegetters.

This weekend Mark has 14 runners engaged with the hugely talented Jimmy Rea beginning a new preparation for his owner Kevin Hickman.  In his nine starts he has recorded five wins plus a second and a third and to date has won $337,680.

Mark currently has a five win margin over the second trainer and an 11 win margin over the third.  Here is the link to the current standings (courtesy of the Singapore Turf Club) as the season countdown continues:

Our Singapore apprentice Shafiq Rusof is also having another stellar season - already a previous Champion Apprentice in Singapore, "Suppy" (as we know him) is a head and shoulders leader on the Apprentice Premiership with 39 wins - that's an 18 win margin over second placed apprentice Harry Kasim, who is well known to New Zealanders, having ridden here for some time.

In New Zealand we have been plagued by winter tracks - lots of rain and heavy tracks - however with this just starting to turn, the stable is on fire - including Steve and Jamie training another winning double at Ruakaka yesterday - and not for the first time this new season either!

With Thetruthisoutthere and Love Actually both saluting the judge in the north, our winning tally moved to 10 with prizemoney climbing past the $100,000 mark already.  Te Akau NZ trainers Steve and Jamie lie second equal on the New Zealand Trainers' Premiership and there's plenty of horse fire-power yet to come including a big weekend ahead!

Te Akau New Zealand stable rider Matt Cameron - twice Jockey Premiership and twice Champion Jockey title winner for the past two seasons - has also started the season well.  Matt currently lies third on the New Zealand Jockeys' Premiership with 14 wins and a strike rate of just 5.57.  He's bound to have another exciting and busy season ahead!

Good luck everyone for this exciting weekend of racing!
