Sebrose Super in Singapore
23 February, 2015
On Sunday night Sebrose saluted the judge for the second time in his seven start career in Singapore when claiming the $60,000 Class 4 1200m on the turf short course A.
In his short career to date, Sebrose has really hit his straps, racing seven times for two wins, three second and one third placing. Already his stakes in those seven starts have exceeded $100,000.
A good looking son of Sebring, the 4YO is out of Group 1 New Zealand Oaks' winner Bramble Rose who was trained by (Sir) Mark Todd. New Zealanders may recall that amongst her ownership were the late (Sir) Paul Holmes and Telecom NZ CEO Theresa Gattung.
We are thrilled for Sebrose's owners who include John and Anne McDonnell who raced Sebring himself and remain involved with the now stallion.
When Sebrose was knocked down to David Ellis at the Gold Coast Sale (main picture) he was the top priced lot of the first session and the media reported at that time:

A lovely colt by Sebring topped today's first session of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.
Leading New Zealand based bloodstock agent David Ellis, flanked by members of his interntional Te Akau racing operation, snared the prized lot with a $230,000 bid.
The chestnut colt is from the Group One winning mare Bramble Rose and is a half brother to the Sydney stakes' winner Maules Creek.
Ellis will be hoping the colt continues his great buying record from the National Yearling Sale - having netted Group One winners Princess Coup and Tell a Tale from previous editions of the auction.
The colt is the fourth foal of the Shinko King mare Bramble Rose - winner of four races including the Group One New Zealand Oaks.
He was offered at the auction by Tyreel Stud - the vendors of star international sprinter Rocket Man at the 2007 National Yearling Sale. It was a great session for Tyreel Stud with the farm presenting four of the eight lots that sold for $100,000 or more.
The Informant reported at the time:
David Ellis yesterday returned to the same sale arena that produced one of Te Akau Racing's very best performers, topping the first day of the Gold Coast Magic Million Yearling Sale with his purchase of a colt by Sebring from the New Zealand Oaks winner Bramble Rose.
Six years ago Ellis bid A$260,000 to secure a filly by Encosta de Lago. As Princess Coup she won the New Zealand Oaks and two editions of the $2 million Group 1 Kelt Capital Stakes, amassing more than $4 million in stakes. Ironically, four years later she was back in the same venue at the end of her racing career, going to the bid of bloodstock agent Tony Bott for A$3 million.
Ellis went to A$230,000, one of eight lots to make $100,000 or more in the opening session of the Magic Million Sale, for the Sebring-Bramble Rose colt. The showy chestnut will return to New Zealand and be prepared for racing from Te Akau's Matamata base.
