Seriously What a Family
26 February, 2018
We all know Hong Kong superstar WERTHER - pictured above!
In fact he started his career in New Zealand where he won the Group 2 Championship Stakes at Ellerslie in April 2015 before heading to Australia. There that year, he was runner up in the Group 1 South Australian Derby before winning the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup and then finishing second in the Group 1 Queensland Derby.
In Australasia he amassed $476,242 in stake money before he was sold to Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong he went to another level - to date he has won almost NZ$10 million in stakes there, through multiple Group 1 performances (wins and placings) and was named Hong Kong Horse of the Year in 2015-16.
He was also named 2016 Champion Middle Distance Horse and 2016 Most Popular Horse and last year, 2017 Champion Stayer.
On Sunday he was narrowly beaten (less than half a length) in the Group 1 Hong Kong Gold Cup in a race that smashed the track record.
His dam Bagalollies was named 2015-16 Champion Broodmare of the Year in New Zealand and of course his "little brother" (and full brother at that) Gobstopper has won almost $250,000 in his six New Zealand wins to date, the highlight being victory the 2017 New Zealand Cup at Riccarton last November.
Exciting young filly Milseain, third in the group 3 Desert Gold Stakes this season is also found as a close relation.
SO WE ARE ACTUALLY DUMB-FOUNDED .....
that we still have two shares remaining in a breathtaking Per Incanto filly who is out of the Iffraaj mare Not A Jaffa who is a half sister to Werther himself.

Like Champion Two-Year-Old Melody Belle, this filly is the first foal of an Iffraaj mare.
“She's a really athletic filly with a super walk and plenty of spunk about her,†said Little Avondale Stud boss Sam Williams at Karaka.
“She's been a great filly to parade here all week and she's absolutely thrived during the yearling prep, and going to make into a stunning type on the track. It certainly wouldn't surprise me to see her in the (Te Akau) tangerine colours come 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) time.â€
During the first session of the Book 1 sale, the Tavistock - Bagalollies filly sold for $500,000.
“She's got great upfront residual value through the progeny of Bagalollies,†Williams said.
“It's a real feather in the cap for Per Incanto. He can leave fillies and colts and I think you're going to see them continue to get better and better. He's a done a great job already with his early racing progeny, there is some really promising ones coming through and the reason I have 30 of my own mares in foal to him, because of what he's been doing and what he's got the ability to do. They've got better with age and we're seeing that, now, big time.â€
“Like Sam (Williams) has said, she's a beautiful filly,†said David Ellis. “I fell in love with her and while the 1000 Guineas could be an aim, she also looks to have the scope to become and Oaks filly.
The filly is represented in blood with a terrific stallion influences: crossed with Mr. Prospector, Ahonoora, Nureyev, and Northern Dancer.
This filly of ours has a pedigree to die for as you can see ... the way this family keeps moving up and up, she will have very good future residual value.
A 10% share in her is $29,800 plus GST and a 5% share is $14,900 plus GST - that includes sales' expenses at cost and veterinary/x-ray examination/inspection at the sale.
Karyn has bought a share in this filly - and is excited about racing her - her breeders LOVE her so much they have also asked to keep a small share in her - be quick, she is really has so much upside, so much in her favour - she's bred to be good - email Karyn now [email protected]
