After securing a nice spot, She's A Showoff (4 m Showcasing - Que Sera, by Daggers Drawn) won the $14,000 Rating 65 1200 metres on 25 September at Tauranga.
She's A Showoff handled wet conditions with aplomb when winning the Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres in June at Matamata, running the fastest last 600m (38.4) on the day. She made plenty of ground fresh-up for fourth to stable-mate Zeitaku (Savabeel) in the Rating 65 1300 metres on 24 August at Taupo, and repeated in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 11 September at Waverley.
Having his first ride on the mare, Michael McNab, the Champion Jockey last season, situated fourth before presenting She's A Showoff on straightening and rounded up the leaders with a sustained gallop.
“It was good to get another win with her and very well ridden by Michael (McNab),†said trainer Mark Walker.
“She has shown ability to get through wet ground and continues to improve.â€
In the race sponsored by Armoury standing at Mapperley Stud, and bearing two dividends, She's A Showoff retuned $3.50 & $1.90 on the NZ TAB tote, after running 1200 metres in 1:15.9.
She's A Showoff was purchased as a yearling by Te Akau principal David Ellis CNZM for $215,000 at the 2020 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the draft of Curraghmore Stud, and owned by the Te Akau Showoff Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM).
“She's a lovely filly, had a few little issues along the way, but now won two of her last four starts and putting it all together,†Ellis said.
“Every time you buy a horse from Curraghmore, you know you're a big chance of ending up with a good horse because Gordon Cunningham and his team do such a great job.
She's A Showoff is a fortunate mating, from the final NZ crop of Showcasing, while the dam of She's A Showoff, Que Sera, out of French Polish (Poil de Chameau), was also a last foal.
The sire of Showcasing, Oasis Dream (Green Desert), was a terrific sprinter in Europe, winning the stallion making July Cup (Gr. 1, 1200m) at Newmarket.
A quality filly, She's A Showoff is the fourth individual winner from Que Sera, a mare that impressed winning over 1400 metres on slow ground and whose progeny have won nine races.
She's A Showoff was strapped by Mallesh Saddari.
