Singapore Friday Raceday Analysis

The Singapore Turf Club cats an eye over the nine race programme at Kranji tonight ...

RACE 1

Always A Winner (7) can lead or come from behind, but from barrier No 1, they will probably elect for frontrunning tactics. Will take some beating if he enjoys a soft lead. Winkers and tongue-tie on. Good Loouken (3) was placed at his last three runs, all of which were over Polytrack. Drops back to 1000m. Looks suited in this. Dr Octopus (1) bounced back to form with an eye-catching third. On that form, he cannot be ignored. Super Joy (6) seems to handle Polytrack better. Has drawn off the track, though. Outsider.

RACE 2

Scene Of The Crime (5) was a certainty beaten on debut. Had to be switched across heels 300m out to find clear galloping room before going down narrowly to Kaiso. Will appreciate the extra 200m. Another top performance expected. Raja Rani (7) scored a barrier trial win three weeks ago. Looks a forward sort and can make the board at her first run. Two-year-old Dragon Gold (9) ran an improved race at his last start when taking on older horses. No weight on his back again. Well placed for another good showing. Irish-bred Tenma (8) gets too far back in his races. Shorter trip not in his favour but if the pace is on, he may pinch a place.

RACE 3

Cash Box (1) was well-backed at his last run but could not quite quicken when called upon. Seems more of a Polytrack horse. Solid claims again. Tongue-tie on. Debut winner Nova Warrior (3) has not quite measured up last time out, but he had excuses as he was bumped at the 300m. Can atone. Public Figure (9) has been in the thick of the action of late. Came close last time out. Place claims. Roma (7) scored narrowly at her last start. She is up in grade this time and faces a stiffer task, but she may just sneak into the minors.

RACE 4

Lim's Mirage (10) is still a maiden but has shown a marked improvement at his last two starts when he ran second. Though unplaced at his only test over 1800m, he came from the rear to run second over the mile last time out. Should be readier for the trip this time. Top chance. Military Alliance (4) did not go a yard at his last start over a distance not made to suit, but was placed over longer and on Polytrack at two previous runs. This is up his alley. Fair chance. Jimtown (5) has been coming close recently, running second twice at last three starts. Can make the board. Winning Star (7) is close to getting back to the winner's box. Form on the up and can fight out the finish here.

RACE 5

The speedy Sebas (6) is hard to catch if he gets his own way in front. Up in class, but with less weight on his back this time, he can give some sight. Got Luck (1) found one better at his last start fresh up. He is a proven performer over this distance and though he shoulders a heavier mass this time, he should still be in the mix at the business end. The lightly-raced Raise No Doubt (5) is back from a long break for a new trainer. Goes well fresh. Won his two trials and a forward run is on the cards. Tongue-tie off. Indian Jade (2) will be first-up after he bled at his last start three months ago. Trip is a little sharp for him but his class could see him sneak a place.

RACE 6

Single Star (6) is back from a spell. Previous form was quite consistent. Scored only win was over this trip. Not without a chance. Stock Broker (1) has not been too far off the winner at his last three runs when the blinkers came on. Gets his chance in this moderate affair. Live Well (8) has been mixing his form but he did run an eye-catching second over 1000m five runs back. Has drawn marble one and rates a chance. Genuine Bargain (10) has some gate speed and if he can overcome his wide gate, he could be in with a slim place chance.

RACE 7

Smart People (2) has been around the mark of late. If he keeps up the same form, he will take some beating in this. Tongue-tie on. Kam's Comet (4) is tackling a better grade after scoring back-to-back wins, but he looks like he can measure up. Can be included in calculations.  Von Krumm (3) scored at his Kranji debut two starts ago and lost no marks next time out. Drawn better this time and if he can come across early, he could give another good account of himself. Place chance. Flying Zero (1) will be a lot fitter after two runs from a break. Down in grade and four-kilo claim will come in handy. Do not underestimate him.

RACE 8

Keen Dragon (1) has put together two wins at his last two starts. Drawn wide but a he is normally held up for a run, it should not really matter. Top performance expected. Lucky Six (6) lost narrowly at his last two outings. Working well on the training tracks. Can finish in the money. Probo Chandroso (8) made all at his last run. Faces stiffer task against stronger lot but with no weight on his back, he may hold on for a place. Kaiser (2) has not scored for a while but he has not finished too far behind the winners. With some luck, he could sneak into the minors.

RACE 9

Well Done (5) scored back-to-back wins over the mile. Back on the trip, he could return to winning ways here. Bob (1) looks the likely leader. He goes well over this distance and is not without a say if he gets away cheaply in front. After running his rivals ragged two starts back, Ninetysevenemperor (8) still ran a creditable second at his next start. One of the leading hopes. Brahms And Liszt (9) had excuses at his last start when he did not have a clear run inside the last furlong. Scored only win over the mile. Can make amends.
