Singapore Saturday Racing Returns Today
Date: 7 Jan 2023
Te Akau Singapore has six horses entered on Saturday 7 January at Kranji.
Te Akau trainer Donna Logan ended her first season finishing second in the Trainers' Premiership.
Training since 2018 in Singapore, Logan took over from Mark Walker on 1 January 2022. Walker was Singapore Champion Trainer in 2015, 2017 (record 87 wins), 2019, and 2021, also runner-up three times, third, and fourth.
5:00 p.m. R1 7 Our Secret Weapon (5 g Outreach - Poppy's Pond) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 6 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1000 metres on poly-track and carries 50.5kg with the apprentice claim. He had excuses last start, and likes this trip but requires all favours.
6:30 p.m. R4 6 Aftermath (5 g Spirit of Boom - Elusive Gift) - Manoel Nunes; he drew barrier 10 of 12 in the $50,000 Class 4 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 55kg. He meets a tough field, but has the services of one of the best in the riding business. He rates a top four chance with luck from his wide draw (10).
7:00 p.m. R5 11 Charmshaab (3 g Charm Spirit - Sehaab) - Benny Woodworth; he also drew barrier 10 of 12 but in the $20,000 Maiden 1100 metres on poly-track and carries 54kg. He will be using this race similar to a trial to bring him forward in fitness and continue his education.
8:30 p.m. R8 4 Stenmark (5 g Medaglia d'Oro - Scandiva) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 8 of 12 in the $70,000 Class 3 1000 metres on poly-track and carries just 53kg. He also will be using the outing as a fitness run for racing later in the month on his preferred turf surface.
9:00 p.m. R9 10 Wednesday (5 g Super One - Shufetish) - Saleh Shafrizal (a1); he drew barrier 2 of 12 in the $30,000 Class 5 1200 metres on poly-track and carries 54.5kg. Again, he is another that will utilise this as a fitness run and will take plenty of improvement for future targets.
10:00 p.m. R11 12 Entertainer (6 g Zoustar - Laughing) - Jamil Sarwi (a4); he drew barrier 4 of 12 in the $100,000 Kranji Stakes A 1100m on poly-track and carries the featherweight of 48.5kg. He comes in without a trial, and looks a place chance at best in a race from which he will take plenty of improvement.
