Singapore Sling

It's hard to believe that we are finally off to Singapore today.  After some six months of planning, our 2013 Te Akau Singapore Sling adventurers depart Auckland airport for the 10.5 hour flight at 12.10pm this afternoon.

In total, 25 Te Akau owners will travel, with the focus being on attending the two big Kranji racedays (see the pic of early mornng trackwork) on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.  Karyn is very much looking forward to taking this group, David having been in Singapore since Tuesday.

Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker leads the Trainers' Premiership and we are hoping Mark can add to that lead with a large team engaged this weekend.  We will be on hand to cheer them all home. Of course, the big racing weekends of the year are always tough and the fields are hugely competitive.

We are excited to also be supporting Matt Cameron, our New Zealand stable rider, who this morning will ride trackwork for us at Kranji.  Matt will ride a good number of our horses this weekend and Mark has also been able to secure him an outside ride for another stable.  His "glamour" ride for Te Akau will be aboard Alpha Centauri in the $500,000 Group 1 Singapore Guineas where he will be reunited with the Keeper gelding out of Country Rose - having won his only trial on him in New Zealand in April last year.

So time to get the bags in the car and head to Auckland - we will keep you in good touch with our fun via this website and you can of course follow us on Twitter @TeAkauRacing.
