Singapore's Super Season
9 September, 2015
Nearly every weekend has been a winning weekend for Te Akau owners in Singapore since the racing season began there on 1 January 2015.
As we all know, Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker is a master at the training craft - as evidenced by his five Trainers' Premiership and four Champion Trainer titles in New Zealand. We have always said, it isn't "if" Mark wins a Singapore Trainers' Premiership, it is a matter of "when" - and 2015 could be the year.
Since the season began, Mark has led the Trainers' Premiership which is no mean feat in itself. He has delivered a phenomenal eight months for our Te Akau owners with 60 wins, 54 runners up and a whopping 90 third place-getters.
Already Te Akau Singapore has won nearly $3.6 million in stakes for our owners - it is a great place to race horses with its very lucrative stakes and of course $900 starter incentive (if your horse is not first or last).
There is no question that with just under four months of the season to run, the contest for season's honours will heat up and the pressure will come on as those behind Mark chase the title down. In many years the Singapore season has gone to the wire. In 2014 only two wins separated the first two trainers and in 2013 Mark finished runner up, only five wins behind Laurie Laxon.
We are so proud of what Mark and Julia, Gus and Karen and the whole team have accomplished this season! It has been possible also with so much support from our owners who place their trust and confidence in us.

We are also hugely proud of the stunning season our Te Akau Singapore apprentice Shafiq Rusof is having - "Suppy" has really come of age and is riding with great success this year. He looks well on his way to claiming his second Singapore Champion Apprentice title - currently on 30 wins for the season, that is an incredible 20 wins ahead of the second placed apprentice Harry Kasim, who is well known to everyone in New Zealand.
