Six-Win Taupo - Win 2 Stylish Outfit

Making it back-to-back winners for Waikato Stud, Outfit (4 m Tivaci - Costume, by Savabeel) also benefitted from a superb ride by Opie Bosson in the $14,000 Matamata Veterinary Services Rating 65 1300 metres on 24 August at Taupo.

After trailing, Bosson had delivered aboard stable-mate Savito (Savabeel) in the previous race and positioning Outfit beautifully in fifth he repeated the dose.

Saving ground approaching the home turn, Outfit went to the leaders with gusto, sprinted to a two length advantage and had plenty in reserve while winning in somewhat nonchalant fashion.

On Soft6 footing, Outfit ran 1300 metres in 1:20.4, last 600m in 37.3, and paid $3.60 & $1.50 on the NZ TAB tote.

A smart Maiden winner over 1600 metres in December at Te Rapa, Outfit finished strongly for second in the Oaks Prelude (Listed, 1600m) in February at Pukekohe, and ended her campaign after contesting the Sunline Vase (Gr. 3, 2100m) in March at Ellerslie.

She ran home strongly to win a trial on 16 August at Avondale, and recorded her second win at start eight for breeder Garry Chittick.

From the first crop of Waikato Stud stallion Tivaci (High Chaparral), winner of the All Aged Stakes (Gr. 1, 1400m) at Randwick, Outfit carries a cross of legendary stallion Sir Tristram (Sir Ivor) on the dam line of Tivaci and sire line of Costume.

Outfit is the third winner, along with Ensemble (Pins) and Lapel (Pins), from dual Group One winner Costume, who included the Herbie Dyke Stakes (Gr. 1, 2000m) at Te Rapa, and Ormond Memorial (Gr. 1, 2040m) at Hastings, while grand-dam Disguised (O'Reilly) has been a tremendous producer with six individual winners of 17 races.

Mark Chittick said: “This mare is raced by the staff at Waikato Stud who unfortunately lost a mare in foal a week ago, so this is a great tonic and consolation for everyone.

“Thank you to Bill (Ewen) and Roisin (McQuillan) at Matamata Vets, who give our farm incredible support and they've got a great team.”

Commenting on the two winners for Waikato Stud, trainer Mark Walker said: “Savito is a nice Savabeel mare that will continue to improve as she matures. A gun ride won the race, that's for sure.

“Outfit is another nice mare going forward and hopefully we can get her rating up high enough to target some black type races. She's a mare a good future.”

Outfit was strapped by Tracy Collis.
