Six Wins in 72 Hours
24 October, 2016
Te Akau's two stables provided a weekend full of winning! In 72 hours the stable notched up not, one, not two, not three, not four, not even five but SIX wins in 72 hours - evenly split with three apiece for Te Akau in New Zealand and in Singapore.
The New Zealand team of Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards started the ball rolling on Friday afternoon with Princess Davone blitzing them fresh up at Counties. On Friday night the winning continued as Te Akau Singapore trainer Mark Walker trained a winning double - Fine Choice and Distinctive Darci, both bought by David Ellis at New Zealand Bloodstock sales.
That was three wins - in 12 hours. But we weren't finished!
On Saturday the talented Savabeel colt Hall of Fame breezed home to win the Listed Zacinto Stakes by five lengths at Riccarton. This followed his slashing victory the start prior in the Guineas' Trial on that same track. Bookmakers have now installed him as the $6.50 second favourite for the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas ahead of third favourite and stablemate Heroic Valour on $7. Hall of Fame was another David Ellis purchase, this time from last year's Ready to Run Sale.
Turn the clock forward to Sunday and back to Kranji to see Q Nine Magic record his third Singapore win and then on Monday, it was off to Oamaru for gritty mare Carmenize to claim her maiden victory.
