Spring Vibes and Racing Thrills: Your Te Akau TV Weekend Preview Is Here

Welcome back to another edition of Te Akau TV – your go-to source for all Te Akau's Runners and doesn't it feel good waking up to September!

As we soak up the delightful Spring weather, and lighter mornings and evenings, there's a palpable sense of excitement in the air. The promise a new racing season holds, uncovering the potential in our now 2YO’s, our older horses gearing up for new campaigns - as we are just over a week away from the first Group 1 of the season.

This week, we're delighted to be joined by new Te Akau New Zealand co-trainer, Sam Bergerson. Sam takes us through the impressive performance of Skew Wiff and the unlucky Brando in last week's Waikato Stud Foxbridge Plate. We celebrate the terrific performances of our horses delivering a five-win streak at Riccarton Park and Matamata.

Just yesterday it was yet another stable double with Talisker and Sorcha winning at Riccarton. Sorcha led home a stable quinella with French Rose, and in doing so, collected her second newly-boosted $20,000 Entain/NZB Insurance Pearl Series Bonus in seven days!

Looking ahead to the weekend, our focus shifts to the upcoming racing action. We've got an exciting 2YO on debut to watch out for at Whanganui, and our runners are gearing up for what promises to be an exciting day at Riccarton Park this Saturday with a team of seven in.  We have a growing team of horses in the South as are sights are set on the NZ Cup Carnival in November.

In addition to the weekend events, Sam also provides a sneak peek into our first Australian contingent that has landed in Melbourne.

The countdown to Tarzino day at Hastings is officially on, the anticipation is building, and we can't wait to see our horses contest the first Group 1 honours of the season! Reece got us home last week with his tip in the ‘Tangerine Best of the Week’ segment so make sure you tune in to catch up with Sam’s pick of the weekend for our punters out there.

If you missed it yesterday, Racing.com caught up with David Ellis who is currently in Melbourne, together with Ben Gleeson, our new Te Akau Australia Assistant Trainer. The feature offers an inside look into our new chapter at Cranbourne. Stay tuned for more exciting developments as Te Akau embarks on this journey in Melbourne.

Good luck to all runners and connections - gee it’s good to be back!

Go the tangerine!
